Breaking Dawn at Comic-Con: Top Five Moments

From MTV.com:

SAN DIEGO — After taking last year off from San Diego Comic-Con, the cast of the "Twilight Saga" returned to the famed pop-culture extravaganza in a very big way. There was new "Breaking Dawn" footage screened before a crowd of 6,000, food gifts presented to fans via the castmembers themselves and talk of the awkwardness involved in filming sex scenes.

It was a lot to take in. Here is our list of the top five "Twilight"-themed moments witnessed during SDCC 2011:

Castmembers Treat Fans to Breakfast
"Twilight" fans are known for their extreme loyalty and passion for the film franchise and its stars. As such, every time the cast has made the trek to San Diego for an appearance, thousands of fans line up outside the Con's famous Hall H — many of whom camp out for days ahead of time.

This year, castmembers Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Elizabeth Reaser, Booboo Stewart and Julia Jones surprised a bunch of lucky fans with an early-morning wake-up call that included a gift of muffins and fruit.

Wedding Scene Was Filmed "Secret-Service Style"
As much as they can, the "Breaking Dawn" cast and crew try to keep spoilers and set photos from being snapped and released on the Internet. But nothing has been as secretive and protected as Bella's wedding dress. Kristen Stewart explained the great lengths that were taken during filming.

"The wedding was secret-service style. It was insane. The crew was completely inconvenienced and grumbling around set," she said at the "Breaking Dawn" press conference at San Diego Comic-Con. Stewart didn't let their efforts go unnoticed. "You don't understand what this means to us," she told the security team. "If this dress gets on the Internet, I'll die."

Bella and Edward's Baby Terrified Its Onscreen Parents
There has been much ado about the "Rosemary's Baby"-esque birthing scene Stephenie Meyer wrote in "Breaking Dawn." Specifically, the end of that scene when Bella brings a half-human, half-vampire baby into the world. According to the scene's key participants, Stewart and Robert Pattinson, what should have been warm and fuzzy was actually horrifying.

"We had an animatronic baby, the scene where [Bella] had to be introduced to the baby for the first time," Pattinson explained during Thursday's press conference.

Stewart explained that although the scene is one of her favorites in the book, the fact that the baby bore more of a resemblance to Chuckie from "Child's Play" than a real newborn made the scene a bit awkward.

"[The puppeteer] is sweating right below my eyeline, trying to [reach] up to get the [animatronic baby's] hand up to touch your face," Stewart recalled. "And then it sticks to your hair and pulls a little bit and you're like, 'Ew, get that thing off me! Get me a real baby, this is ridiculous!' " she said. "And it had hair!"

"If you've ever seen a baby with a wig on ...," Pattinson offered. "[It] looked like a little troll on a stick."

Seven-Minute Clip Teases "Honeymoon" Scene
Of all the scenes fans are most looking forward to seeing in "Breaking Dawn," the honeymoon scene is at the top of the list. And the lucky 6,000 fans who attended the film's panel Thursday were treated to a steamy sneak peek, along with about seven minutes of new footage from the film.

Pattinson told us the key to getting around the awkwardness involved in filming that scene was to go for it.

"You just get lubed up and jump right into it!" RPattz joked. "You have to have some tantric breathing and stuff."

Pattinson Likens Himself to Processed Meat
Speaking of brilliant Pattinson quotes, one of our favorites occurred when the heartthrob had to address appearing shirtless on camera.

"The thing I was most nervous about was taking my shirt off," Pattinson said of which scenes he was most anxious about.

"I don't want to get anyone's hopes up," Pattinson self-deprecatingly added, referring to what fans will see of his torso in the film and preview footage. "I look like an inflatable frankfurter in some of those [scenes]."

Help Plan Edward's Breaking Dawn Bachelor Party

From EOnline:

We are just as excited for Breaking Dawn: Part 1 as you are, Twi-hards! But there's been a major oversight. The whole Edward and Bella wedding is fine and dandy, but we think we should be focusing our attention on the really fun part of getting married.

Duh! The bachelor and bachelorette parties!

And in anticipation for the first part of the final installment, we thought it would be fun to plan these nights of debauchery for Edward and Bella.

First up: Eddie's bachelor bash. You don't actually expect us to believe that his last night as a free vamp was spent hunting (as it says in the book), do you? Of course not, there was bound to been some throwing back of blood shots (spiked, of course) at the very least.

And even though the party isn't given much attention in the novel, the upcoming movie will include a glimpse of what goes down during the celebration.

"What happens at the bachelor party stays at the bachelor party, you know what I'm talking about?" Jackson Rathbone, who plays Edward's brother, Jasper, spilled during a Houston radio show interview.

Well, that doesn't exactly sound like a night of hunting, does it?

Now, before the whole "Edward's a gentleman, he'd never do that to Bella" crap starts, remember, this is all in the name of fun. So what king of fun should they engage in? We have a few ideas:

The Hangover, Cullen Style: Emmett, Jasper and Carlisle take Edward to Vegas for a reckless night on the town. Things get crazy when Emmett spikes the blood Jell-O shots. They wake up the next morning and (gasp!) Edward is missing. Cue ensuing drama.

Strip Club: Can you blame Edward? He's only human...well, not really. A lap dance is like a bachelor party rite of passage. And you can bet the ladies would be fans of the Cullens and their...um...stone-like skin.

Sporting Event: The Cullens are pretty into baseball. So it's not out of the question that they would take Edward to a ball game where they can pretend to drink beer and chow down on hot dogs.

Hunting 2.0: OK, so maybe they really will go hunting. But it shouldn't be their typical routine. Our idea: strip hunting. The last person to catch a deer has to remove an article of clothing. You know Jacob would be all over this (if he's invited, of course)—he never backs down to a shirtless hunting adventure.

Twilight Fans Stake Out "Camp Breaking Dawn"

From Robot6.comicbookresources.com:

As sure as the moon rises in the East and vampires sparkle in sunlight, die-hard fans of the Twilight series line up early for Summit Entertainment’s Hall H presentation at Comic-Con International in San Diego. But just how early? By at least one account, there were about 20 Twihards outside the San Diego Convention Center late yesterday afternoon, becoming the founders of this year’s version of “Camp Twilight” — or “Camp Breaking Dawn,” if you prefer. Within hours, that number more than doubled, with as many as 50 devotees eagerly awaiting a panel that doesn’t begin until 11:15 a.m. Thursday.

Even the most hardcore comic-book enthusiasts — those who travel hundreds of miles and lay out hundreds, even thousands, of dollars to get a sketch from a favorite artist, sit through panels about favorite characters and rub sweaty elbows with like-minded individuals — have difficulty understanding this level of devotion to Stephanie Meyer’s novels and the movie adaptations.

However, that doesn’t mean members of other fandoms can’t offer a little convention advice to Team Edward and Team Jacob. “Dear Twihards in line at Hall H for #Twilight on Thurs: It is only Monday” Jo Garfein tweeted. “Pattinson will be able to smell you in that 1st row. Deodorize!”

Historic Columbia River Gorge Inn From First 'Twilight' Film Catches Fire

The Columbia River Gorge Inn, featured in the dance at the end of the first Twlight movie, has been extensively damaged by fire.

From KATU.com:

CORBETT, Ore. - The historic View Point Inn in the Columbia River Gorge caught fire on Sunday, sending a plume of smoke into the sky and burning much of the building's top floor.

The inn's owners said two people walking around the back of the inn first spotted the flames and ran inside to alert employees.

The two people were fans of the Twilight movie. Part of the popular movie was filmed at the inn and movie fans often stop by to visit, the owners said.

It’s not clear how the fire started or the extent of the damage. A large column of smoke could be seen coming from the building.

Staff members tried to put the fire out with a garden hose, but were not successful.

Deputies said several guests were in the building at the time. A wedding was also scheduled for the afternoon and the guests who had arrived were sent home. A nearby facility offered the host the wedding instead.

The View Point Inn is located near Vista House in the Columbia River Gorge.

The owners told KATU they have insurance, but aren't sure what all it will cover.

They had recently filed for bankruptcy and aren't sure how they'll be able to carry on.

"I love the inn, but I can't do it by myself anymore," said co-owner Geoff Thompson. "If Oregon wants this inn and if people want this inn, everybody's going to have to join in and save it because I just can't do it my myself."

The fire burned through the roof and did extensive damage to the second floor.

"It just went up in smoke, and what was strange is it started low on the roof. It was not up at the top at all," said co-owner Angelo Simione.

The inn was built in 1924 as a stop along the old Columbia Gorge Highway. It's on the National Register of Historic Places and once hosted President Franklin Roosevelt.

"This is devastating," said onlooker Betsy Lee. "This is such a landmark. It's very sad."

'Breaking Dawn' Star Goes Shirtless for 4th of July

From Celebs.Gather.com:

Breaking Dawn star Robert Pattinson toasting the Fourth of July by baring it all? Not a chance! The British heart-throb is leaving the celebration of America's patriotic holiday all to his co-star Kellan Lutz, who is taking his duty seriously, very seriously.

Lutz hit up the Independence Day Weekend Party at the Ciroc Cabana Club yesterday in Water Mill, New York, where he showed off his athletic prowess by playing a game of tennis (and by flashing his ripped physique). There may have been plenty of six-pack beers (and vodka!) to go around, but Lutz provided his own six-pack during his shirtless tennis game and subsequent pool time.

But, it might as well have been Robert Pattinson sizzling up the Fourth of July party by going shirtless, given he had the expert guidance of Kellan Lutz to help him buff up for Breaking Dawn.

"I'm really proud of Rob for working out and really training really hard... He talked to me about what proteins to drink and what to do and he listened and cared. He had a great mentality for it," said Breaking Dawn's Lutz, who wore a red and blue striped shirt (quickly discarded!) and navy pants with white flip-flops to the Ciroc Cabana Club.

Nothing like the red, white and blue--and a bit of brotherly advice!

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's Intimate "Breaking Dawn" Posters

In a new set of Breaking Dawn movie posters, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart get intimate, a far cry from Twilight posters of the past. As you'll recall for the first film, Rob's character protectingly stands behind his love as the Cullen family looms in the background. For New Moon, it's Taylor Lautner who's the protector as he stands in the middle, keeping the fantasy world's version of Romeo & Juliet apart. Then for the third film, Eclipse, Kristen is a vampire sandwich as she stands between her two potential suitors. But for the upcoming fourth film, it's all about tender loving.

Check out these Breaking Dawn promo posters that were released in the Philippines. They show Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's characters as a loving couple who can't keep their hands off each other. In one image, Rob hold's K-Stew's hand to his heart. In another, a frightened Kristen cuddles up in her man's arms for protection. But in the third (and sure to be a fan favorite), the two cuddle up in bed...

Will Breaking Dawn Fans Push Kristen's Sneakers Over the Top?

From Celebs.Gather.com:

Kristen Stewart has donated a pair of "lightly used" autographed sneakers to a charity which provides shelter for victims of sexual exploitation. Since sneakers are a big item in the Breaking Dawn star's wardrobe, the signed black Keds are bound to cause a hot bidding war on Shoe Revolt's auction site when they go up on August 1. Fans and Twi-hards, take note! Exactly how they plan to offer the shoes for sale is not yet clear, but interest is already building.

The Shoe Revolt website tweets: "Thanks Kristen Stewart for donating a pair of shoes to Shoe Revolt!" Note: The site sells actual shoes that women can wear, not just collect, and they have everything from boots to sky-high heels. Including sneakers, naturally.

"The ultimate goal," says Hollywood Life, "is to build 51 shelters (one for each state and in D.C.) that will provide housing, mentoring, and counseling services to survivors of sexual exploitation. Sarah Jessica Parker and Zoe Bell have already contributed, among others, but the Kristen Stewart fan base is the biggest yet. This is definitely a positive use of KStew's star power.

Supporters of the site hope it will translate into big bucks for the charity.
