Stephenie's 1-27-10 Website Update

January 27, 2010

Hope your new years have all started off right. A few unrelated things:

- I've been very impressed with the world in general and the Twilight fansites in specific in the support and love everyone is giving Haiti. It's amazing to see how Twilight fans have come together to help. You are wonderful people. At this point, I think it's important for all of us to remember that the situation in Haiti is not going to be cured overnight, so... keep up the good work, and let's all keep the Haitians in our thoughts and prayers.

- A new book recommendation: I recently read and adored The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. It was one of those books that feel absolutely perfect and satisfying, and when you finish it you sit around wishing that you could find another book just like it.

- I realized that there was an egregious oversight on my music recommendation page. How have I never listed Metric? That's crazy. Anyway, Fantasies was one of the best albums of 2009.

- Finally, a movie recommendation: Dear John comes out Friday the fifth of February. Thanks to my cool friend Wyck (who many of you have seen in various Twilight Saga interviews, as he is one of the producers on our movies, and who is a producer on Dear John) I got to see this one early. I will confess, I cried. Also, I discovered Channing Tatum, who I̢۪ve somehow missed until now. Likey. Lots. Amanda Seyfried is entrancing as always, and the chemistry (chemistry is always the crux of a movie for me) between them is lovely. Though the chemistry between Channing Tatum and Richard Jenkins (who plays his father) was my favorite part.

Have a great week!

Steph

Stephenie Launches Twilight: The Graphic Novel

We've had Twilight: the bestselling books, Twilight: the box office smash, and now author Stephenie Meyer has revealed that the next step in the vampire love story's world domination will be Twilight: the graphic novel.

Illustrated by Korean artist Young Kim with input from Meyer on every panel, the first volume of Twilight: the Graphic Novel will be published on 16 March. Its publisher said the black and white title, with colour interspersed throughout, would combine "a rare fusion of Asian and western comic techniques".

The cover shows human teenager Bella Swan sprawled on the grass – an image from the dream that first inspired Meyer to write the novel. "In my dream, two people were having an intense conversation in a meadow in the woods. One of these people was just your average girl. The other person was fantastically beautiful, sparkly, and a vampire," she has said. "I stayed in bed, thinking about the dream. I was so intrigued by the nameless couple's story that I hated the idea of forgetting it; it was the kind of dream that makes you want to call your friend and bore her with a detailed description."

The American author said yesterday that Kim's graphic interpretation of her characters and settings was "very close" to what she was imagining while writing the series. "It takes me back to the days when I was writing Twilight," she told Entertainment Weekly. "It's been a while since I was really able to read Twilight; there is so much baggage attached to that book for me now. It seems like all I can see are the mistakes in the writing. Reading Young's version brought me back to the feeling I had when I was writing and it was just me and the characters again. I love that. I thank her for it."

Meyer's Twilight saga – Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn – has sold 85m copies worldwide. Its UK publisher Little, Brown said it had sold more than a million copies of each novel in the series in Britain alone. "I can't say that I am done with Twilight forever," Meyer told EW. "I'm not working on anything new Twilight-related now, and probably not for a while. But there's still a possibility that I'll go back and close some of the open doors."

Robert Speaks at "Hope for Haiti Now" Telethon

By Nuzhat Naoreen w/HollywoodCrush.mtv.com

It's been just a little over a week since a massive earthquake devastated the Caribbean Island of Haiti, leveling buildings and capturing countless citizens underneath the rubble.

While aid efforts for Haiti began shortly after the earthquake, tonight, some of Hollywood's biggest stars got together to bring further awareness to the cause. Amongst them was "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson, who stressed the importance of technology during this crisis.

(see Robert's full speech after the jump)
Robert, who appeared on camera from London, shared the story of a girl in Haiti who had been buried under a flattened university for nearly six days, praying that someone would find her. Finally, on the sixth day, rescuers discovered her because of a text message sent from underneath the rubble.

Amazing.

The story was just one example of how technology, including Twitter, Facebook and texting, has shaped the response to the earthquake in Haiti.

Here is his speech in full:

"Underneath a flattened university, Maxine Fallon waited. She was crouched in a fetal position and could barely move. In the darkness and during the hectic sounds of the day, through the pain, the hunger and thrist, she prayed that someone would find her. And on the sixth day her prayers were answered, she was found because of a text message from the rubble sent rescuers to her side. Unlike any other event in history, our world has been connected to this tragedy because of technology. Twitter updates, Facebook pages with pictures of the missing and text messages for help. This technology is working right now to connect us, too. At hopeforhaitinow.org, you can donate and you can instantly interact with people in Haiti and anywhere in the globe. Join with those watching and see what they're saying about something we all care deeply about — helping the Haitian people get back on their feet. Please go to hopeforhaitinow.org. Thank you."

Robert of course, was just one of the "Twilight" stars to participate in the benefit to help Haiti. Across the pond in L.A, his "New Moon" costars Taylor Lautner and Anna Kendrick answered calls from people interested in making a donation.

Learn more about what you can do to help with earthquake-relief efforts in Haiti, and for more information, see Think MTV. Visit HopeForHaitiNow.org or call (877) 99-HAITI to make a donation now.

Kellan Possibly Stepping into Schwarzenegger's Shoes

Kellan Lutz, the vampire star of the hugely popular ‘Twilight’ saga is pretty thrilled coz he has earned himself the lead role in the remake of the action flick ‘Conan The Barbarian’. The protagonist’s role that was earlier played by the big man Arnold Schwarzenegger, is, now, almost certain to go into his kitty.

And he’s over the moon, as the role would not only be a challenging one but also help him showcase his versatility and shed off the ‘vampire’ tag.

.“It’s something that I’ve been actively going after because I’d die to put the weight back on… I want to be the big guy that I was,” he quips in ecstasy.

“I’ve been waiting for a while, doing screen tests. There are just so many cooks in the kitchen. If it happens, it happens… I’m just excited, because the script is great,” Kellan adds unable to conceal his glee.

However, besides being super-excited, he’s also a tad anxious as the final confirmation is yet to arrive. Plus, actor Jason Momoa has also been approached for the same role.

But, given a chance, he’d put his best foot forward and even his fans, especially the fairer sex, would love to ogle at a beefier and muscular Kellan Lutz.

Hayley Williams Explains Why Paramore Passed on New Moon Soundtrack

From MTV.com:

Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams waved her Twilighter flag proudly when her band lent their pop-punk power in "Decode" to the "Twilight" soundtrack. But Williams said they actually turned down an offer to be on the "New Moon" disc.

"Honestly, I had a good time being a part of the first one," she told MTV News on the red carpet of the People's Choice Awards, where "Twilight" won four awards. "They asked us if we wanted to do the second one, and I said no. I didn't want to force anything. They did come to us really early, like before they knew if they would use it. We wanted it to be genuine."

Even though she didn't contribute to it, Williams said she enjoyed the "New Moon" soundtrack. "I read all the books, except for the last chapter of 'Breaking Dawn,' so I won't be giving up on all the movies," she said. "I was really excited about the second soundtrack. I love Death Cab for Cutie and Bon Iver. I thought it was really good. I feel glad we were a part of the first movie."

Considering how successful the soundtrack ended up being, does Hayley regret the decision? "No, because our record Brand New Eyes came out in September, and we've been promoting it nonstop," she said. "So, I've been so busy and so excited about that. You can't really regret anything. We're doing fine."

But Paramore haven't ruled out participating in the soundtrack for the third "Twilight" installment, "Eclipse."

"We'll see what happens in the future," Williams said. "I don't know — if it feels genuine. If we write a song, and I feel like it goes with it, I wouldn't turn it down, but I wouldn't force it."

'Twilight Phenomenon' Strikes Four-Legged Friends

"Bella" was 2009's most popular name for US dogs, according to a leading American pet insurer.

"Max," the most popular dog's name for six years running, was beaten to first place by the name "Bella", shared with the protagonist of the hit US vampire series Twilight. The survey of 475,000 pets, conducted by Veterinary Pet Insurance, the largest provider of pet insurance in America, showed that "Max" did remain the US's most popular cat name however.

"Chloe" took second place amongst the felines, with Bella the third most popular. Newcomer "Angel" bumped old favouite "Charlie" from the list altogether, whilst children's favorite "Tigger" dropped four places to number seven.

E! had readers vote on who their top celebrity Tweeter was and Peter Facinelli came in number one.

It’s pretty amazing when you consider that Ashton Kutcher, who has more Twitter followers than the populations of several nations, came in second. Peter has really taken the possibilities of Twitter to a new level raising money for multiple charitable causes.

'New Moon' Movie Mistakes?

A website with the name Movie Mistakes posted 29 mistakes in The Twilight Saga: New Moon that hardcore moviegoers manged to spot. You may want to hang onto this list until you go back to watch the film and see if you can spot these for yourself. A few of the mistakes mentioned on the list include …1. Bella’s bite mark scar is not in the position it should be, compared to where James actually bit her in Twilight.
2. When Bella and Jacob are driving in Bella’s truck to go test out the motorbikes for the first time, they alternate between driving backwards and forwards. When you see the forest passing through Bella’s window, they appear to be driving forwards. However, when you see the reflection of the trees in the windshield when the camera is on Bella and Jacob, they appear to be driving backwards. When they close-up on Jacob and Bella separately through the windshield, it is extremely obvious that they are driving backwards.
3. When Bella is in the parking lot at school in the beginning, Edward walks toward her. Bella’s hair is neatly pulled off to the side. When he leans in for the kiss it is suddenly stuck to her forehead, and when Edward tells her Jacob wants her, it’s suddenly back to normal.
4. Just as Jacob enters Bella’s room through the window, a stunt prop - white band on his right wrist - is briefly visible.
5. After Bella awakes from the first nightmare, we see her Romeo and Juliet book on the pillow beside her. When Charlie brings in her presents the book is gone, but then reappears on the pillow between shots.
6. When Jacob first shows off his tattoo, it is up at the top of his shoulder. Then when he is in the forest at the end with Bella and Edward, his tattoo is about 2 inches further down his arm.
7. In the scene where Bella is in the meadow talking to Laurent, Bella’s hair is at first straight and then in the next scene it is wispy and pushed back and then it is straight again.
8. When Edward takes Bella to the forest to tell her he is leaving, Bella’s hair hangs down her back. But in a following shot most of it is tucked up in the hood of her coat.
9. When Sam comes into the house and kisses his fiance, you can see the ripples in the edges of the plastic film used to put the tattoo on his arm.
10. At Bella’s birthday party, when Edward pushes Jasper away after attacking Bella, Emmett turns his head to follow Jasper flying through the air. But in the next shot, he is looking in front of him as though he didn’t see anything.

Check out the rest of the mistakes here. Did you spot any of these while watching the film?
