'The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner' - Newborn Vamp Explored in New 'Twilight' Tale

From EOnline.com:

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner aren't the only stars of Eclipse. If supporting actress Jodelle Ferland does a good job, she may get a major movie vehicle of her own.

Twilight author Stephenie Meyer is releasing an additional element of the vampire tale that just may bring the teen front and center. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella is a 192-pager following the newborn as she's recruited for the army hunting down Bella and Edward.

The story began as an exercise Meyer forced on herself to explore the darker side of the battle in the third installment of her hit series, which she would share on her website, but it gradually grew into much more.

"I'd always considered The Short Life of Bree Tanner as something for the fans," she said in a statement.

The short book will hit shelves on June 5—just 25 days before fans get their first look at Bree on the silver screen. Luckily, director David Slade was given an early peek.

"Stephenie was gracious enough to let me read a draft of the novella while we were prepping the movie," he said in a statement. "I thoroughly enjoyed the story and it gave us great insight and inspired location choices and the tailoring of scenes. I think fans are going to love the fascinating details involved in the loves, fears and actions of an emerging vampire."

One dollar from every book sold in the U.S. will go to the American Red Cross International Response Fund to support disaster relief efforts in Haiti and Chile.

And, if you voracious Twilight readers can't wait to get your hands on this story sidenote, we recommend giving Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl's Beautiful Creatures a whirl. The first of the five-novel series has already been optioned by Warner Bros. to possibly follow in the Bella and Edward's film-friendly footsteps.

Taylor at the Kids Choice Awards

Taylor Lautner usually doesn't go into too much detail about the Twilight movies but yesterday (Sunday, 3/28) at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards he talked quite a bit on the movie and the upcoming premiere

Taylor will be joining his co-stars Kirsten Stewart and Robert Pattinson on June 30 to once again bring Twilight into the theater. The next installment, Twilight Eclipse is what Lautner says is his favorite book.

During the interview he has with the Los Angeles Times, he mentions how hard it is to be patient for Twilight Eclipse as the movie was shot immediaely after New Moon yet there is 8 months in between the two for him to do other projects while he waits to promote it.

Last night the kids at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards honored him with the Favorite movie Actor as well as being part of the Cutest Couple honor. Suffice to say this wonderful hunk has captured the hearts of teens everywhere.

Peter Meets Fans Along Tour To Help Ill Children

Team Carlisle drew thousands of antsy "Twilight" fans to the Poughkeepsie Galleria on Sunday for an autograph and photo event that benefited Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer.
Peter Facinelli, who plays Carlisle Cullen, the adoptive father of vampire character Edward Cullen in the film series, was friendly to his fans, making small talk, hugging them on stage, and even pretending to nip into their wrists during photographs (even though his character has spent hundreds of years controlling his appetite).

The actor's visit was part of his ongoing mall tour to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand, which raises money for childhood cancer research.

The Queens native and father of one occasionally waved to the crowd, giving rise to a collective squeal uniquely associated with starstruck teens and tweens.
Facinelli's vampire character is the favorite of 11-year-old Rhinebeck resident Morgan Suter, largely because of his medical skills (Cullen is a doctor) and the manner in which he became a vampire.

Morgan clutched her freshly autographed fourth installment of the Twilight Saga, "Breaking Dawn," her favorite of the series.
"I do like the vampires better than the werewolves," she gushed. "They sparkle in the sunlight, and the werewolves are hairy."

Morgan's aunt, Hyde Park resident Stephanie Licari, follows the saga as closely as her niece, mostly for the romance.

Licari had heard that "Eclipse," the third installment of the series, was Facinelli's favorite, so she brought her copy of the book.
In her pocket, she had secreted a pack of peanut M&M's to give to Facinelli. She had read an interview in which he said he liked them.

"You guys have been fantastic," Facinelli told the crowd. "I appreciate each and every one of you."

Want a Little More Eclipse? Here Ya Go!

From EOnline:

Caught! Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart curled up in a bed together, talking about matters of life and death.

No, this isn't the amateur filmmaking of an Erin Andrews-style peeper. It's a scene from Eclipse!

This segment of the Twilight series' third installment is featured on the New Moon DVD that came out over the weekend. Some of it was already featured in the trailer. Still, whether or not you were able to pick it up, we don't want you to go hungry on a Monday!

In the clip, Bella and Edward are discussing why the hunk won't turn his lady into a fellow sparkle vamp.

She's debating how to tell her family they'll never see her again and Edward tells her he doesn't want her to suffer that.

"You believe I have a soul. Well, I don't," he declares. "But to risk yours, just for the sake of never having to lose you—that's the most selfish thing I'll ever do."

The scene is almost perfect, except for the part where Taylor Lautner doesn't show up without a shirt.

In case your countdown clock got messed up, the flick hits theaters June 30.

Breaking Dawn Casting Call

From Larson Hill w/The Deadbolt News:

As Twilight and New Moon stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner gear up for The Twilight Saga Eclipse, Twilight Saga fans can get in on Breaking Dawn early, as a casting call was recently announced for the final Twilight Saga film, Breaking Dawn.

A casting call has gone out for supporting Twilight characters and extras in Breaking Dawn since the last installment in The Twilight Saga requires many vampires to round out the Breaking Dawn cast . Although Breaking Dawn doesn't have a director, the production is getting an early jump on Breaking Dawn casting, with the juicy role of Renesmee Cullen, the half-vampire half-human daughter of Bella and Edward also up for grabs.

For more information on the Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn casting call and where to send your Twilight audition tapes and head shots, check out Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Production and Casting Updates.

Kristen Confirms Three Directors Are In The Running for "Breaking Dawn"

Kristen has confirmed to MTV that there are three directors under consideration to make Breaking Dawn: Sofia Coppola, Gus Van Sant and Bill Condon! This doesn’t mean that one of these people will ultimately direct “Breaking Dawn,” only that they are being pursued.

Here are some of the highlights of the aforementioned directors’ careers:

Gus Van Sant: “Good Will Hunting,” “Milk”

Sofia Coppola: “The Virgin Suicides,” “Lost In Translation”

Bill Condon: “Dreamgirls,” “Gods And Monsters”

If one of the people DID direct “Breaking Dawn,” who would you want it to be?

Stores brace for 'Twilight: New Moon' DVD release

Source: MLive.com

HOLLAND -- In a Walmart store just a short walk from where "New Moon" star Taylor Lautner perfected his karate moves as a kid, a "Twilight Saga Shop" has been temporarily erected to feed the hunger of the series' fans.

If the crowd of more than 500 that descended on the store last March for the release of the "Twilight" DVD is any indicator, this store will be swarming with fans Friday night as they wait for "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" DVD to go on sale at 12:01 a.m. Saturday.

Siouxsie Sherman, a department manager at the store, admitted she's glad she isn't scheduled to work that night, because she plans to be in line to buy the DVD. She has seen the film 15 times in theaters but said that isn't enough to really determine if "New Moon" is a better film than "Twilight," which she has watched on DVD about a 100 times.

LIST
This Saturday, area stores plan to roll out their specially packaged DVDs for "The Twilight Saga: New Moon":
Target
Three-disc "Deluxe Edition."
Exclusive feature: 60 minutes of extra footage and bonus collectible film cell.
Price: $24.99

Walmart

Price: $24.96

Best Buy
Two-disc "Steelback Package"
Exclusive feature: Metal container; free cell phone skin for pre-orders
Price: $24.99
Events: Midnight store opening at Comstock store.

Barnes & Noble
Two-disc "Special edition"
Exclusive feature: Dreamcatcher bag clip for preorders.
Price: $24.99

Meijer
Two-disc "Special edition"
Price: $24.99
Event: Midnight parties in 10 markets, including Grand Rapids. The Knapp's Corner store will host a party from 10 p.m. to midnight. New Moon gift bags will be given away. Details at 1053hotfm.com.

"To be fair, I need to see 'New Moon' many more times," Sherman said.

Walmart took the same approach with the release of the "Twilight" DVD last year, making it an event with giveaways, contests and even cake.

"The midnight release was the most successful in our history," said Melissa O'Brien, spokeswoman for Walmart entertainment.

"Twilight" also was the most preordered DVD in the retailer's history.

Retailers are offering many tantalizing choices to consumers as they try to take a big bite out of the second installment of the franchise. The teen vampire love story was the top-selling DVD in 2009, selling more than 10.2 million copies and generating sales of $182 million.

Several retailers are wrapping the DVD of the box-office hit in exclusive extras. Walmart's "fan edition" version offers a seven-minute preview of "Eclipse," the "Twilight" saga's third film that will be released in June. Target's version has a third disc with extra behind-the-scenes footage. Best Buy encases its DVD in a steel box, and Barnes & Noble throws in a dreamcatcher bag clip. All sell for just under $25.

"It's causing a lot of backlash among hard-core fans because you don't know what package to choose," said John Latchem, an editor of the Santa Ana, Calif.-based Home Media Magazine.

Fans are almost as torn as Bella Swan is between vampire Edward Cullen and werewolf Jacob Black.

To help with the decision, Latchem has blogged about the myriad of "New Moon" DVD options at agentdvd.com/blog.

For those who don't want to wait in line, Comcast customers will be able to watch the film beginning at 12:01 a.m. Saturday. The On Demand showing includes the director's commentary on several of the film's scenes and a preview of "Eclipse."

Comcast reports it offered a similar On Demand deal last year when the "Twilight" DVD was released. The film was On Demand's most rented movie of 2009. The film also will be available on Showtime On Demand.

Offering retailer-exclusive DVDs and CDs is a growing trend.

"The stores would much rather compete on value than price on these titles," Latchem said.

Sales of these collector sets have helped offset the overall decline of the DVD market.

People are buying movies they want to have as part of the collection and expect to view several times, said Bruce Nash, founder and president of Nash Information Services, a consulting and data services firm that tracks DVD sales at its Web site, the-numbers.com.

Both Walmart and Meijer are taking advantage of their 24-hour operation by holding midnight parties for fans who want to buy their DVDs the minute they are released.

"This will be a very big release for us, and we'll have a lot of items in addition to DVDs," Meijer spokesman Frank Guglielmi said.

Meijer is collaborating with radio stations to host midnight parties throughout its five-state area that will include gift bags and trivia contests.

Summit Home Entertainment found success last year releasing the "Twilight" DVD on a Saturday to make it a weekend event instead of the traditional midweek release, Nash said.

Summit also had special editions unique to retailers. On Target's Web site, consumers are complaining the retailer's "New Moon" DVD doesn't include a digital download, like "Twilight" did.

But the biggest gripe among "Twilight" fans is the DVD doesn't include commentary by the stars. Director Chris Weitz said he ended up doing the honors with editor Peter Lambert because stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Lautner were too busy on their press tours promoting the film, according to news reports.

"New Moon" might eclipse "Twilight" sales, but that might not guarantee its reign as the top-selling DVD of 2010. Box-office giant "Avatar" is expected to be released on DVD later this year.

"The way it tracks with franchises is that the box office goes up with the second movie, but DVD sales tend to go down with each release," Nash said.

Still, he said he expects "New Moon" to sell 5 million units in the first few weeks.

"Twilight" DVDs sold steadily for months, staying in the Top 30 for 20 weeks.

The limited editions, however, are designed to sell out quickly.

If you don't get the "New Moon" DVD set you want, don't worry, Latchem said.

"Knowing how the industry works, they'll probably have a giant box set featuring all the films eventually," Latcham said. "And they'll probably have extras we haven't heard of."

2-Minute Behind-the-Scenes Look at Eclipse

From Jay Tomio at BSCreview.com:

So we got the Twilight Eclipse teaser and full blown trailer last week, and though I know Twilight fans are satisfied with the very Bella, Edward, and Jacob-centric look at the upcoming third film in the Twilight Saga, but some of you had to wonder what’s going on with some of the other cast members, both new and old faces. We now have something for you!

A 2-minute behind-the-scenes look at Eclipse that’s featured on the New Moon DVD has made its way online, and features footage from the film, commentary, and some “making of” bits, specifically focusing on some action scenes. Earlier today we posted another a promo for the New Moon DVD release featuring Robert Pattinson’s ‘Edward’.

Twilight Eclipse hits theaters and and IMAX on June 30th. David Slade is directing and has brought with him some new faces in Bryce Dallas Howard (who we did get a glimpse of in the trailer–and has replaced Rachelle Lefevre as “Victoria”), Kirsten Prout, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Jack Huston, Jodelle Ferland, and Xavier Samuel to the Twilight mythos. Plus, all your favorites are back, though I’m not seeing my girl Ashley Greene here.

Rob Wants to Record Album

From NME.com:

Twilight actor Robert Pattinson has said he plans to make an album later this year because he is "annoyed" that his friends are all doing well in the music world.

Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the film series, used to perform at open mic nights before finding fame. He is now planning to take his musical interest to a new level, reports The Sun.

"I want to do one [an album] at the end of the year," he said. "All my friends are recording albums and I'm very annoyed about it. I don't know how people can act and also sing. I'll find some time to do it."

The soundtrack for the most recent Twilight instalment, New Moon, included contributions from Muse, Thom Yorke and The Killers.

Pattinson sang and co-wrote one track, 'Never Think', on the original Twilight soundtrack in 2008.

Taylor Hanging with BFF

From Hollywoodlife.com:

But be careful, Taylor… you don’t want Rob to get jealous!

Best friends are always there for one another, and that definitely seems to be the case with Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart. Taylor’s latest deed as best friend was escorting Kristen to the after party for the LA premiere of her new movie The Runaways on March 11, along with her co-star Dakota Fanning.

And this isn’t the first time time the two have been spotted together this week! The Twilight co-stars walked the red carpet and then sat together at the Oscars on March 7!

Tay and K-Stew are sure spending a lot of time together recently. We wonder what Kristen’s boyfriend Robert Pattinson thinks about all of this?

Eclipse Trailer - What's Missing?

From MTV.com / Larry Carroll:

By now, you've spent more time watching the new "Eclipse" trailer Thursday (March 11) than you have being outside. As the Wii would tell you: Take a break and enjoy the sunshine, pal.

But here's something to contemplate before you enjoy that fresh air: a list of five awesome "Eclipse" elements we don't see in the new trailer. Have they been omitted from the June 30 film? Are they just being kept secret? Read on, then let us know which other key scenes you wish the trailer had revealed.

Jasper's History
In "Eclipse," Bella discovers that Jasper has scars all over his arms from vampire bites — setting off an eagerly anticipated flashback that will likely serve as Jackson Rathbone's meatiest scenes in the series. The novel depicts Jasper weaving a wild story of Southern vampires who come out at night to do battle, a young vampire named Benito and his own history as a confederate soldier in Houston. Depending on how thorough Slade decides to be, the flashback could include his first meeting with Alice, old encounters with the Volturi and, of course, Maria (Catalina Sandino Moreno), the woman who turned him.

"Twilight": The College Years
In a particularly intriguing series of moments early in Stephenie Meyer's novel, Edward and Bella rendezvous in her room late at night for an evening of hot-and-heavy ... college-brochure reading. The duo speak hesitantly about their future together, planning a life at Alaska University that could keep them together while Bella continues her education; Charlie, natch, ain't down with that plan. Although it's a minor plot point, the scene should give Kristen and Rob a unique moment to have some fun and show the bond between the two characters; let's just hope Slade deemed it worthy for inclusion in the finished film.

Jacob's Long and Winding Road
Take a look at Taylor Lautner in the trailer, and it seems like he could just as easily be doing scenes from "New Moon" — he's trying to win Bella's heart, he's conflicted, he has no shirt, etc. But in "Eclipse," so much more happens to Jake. Most significantly, he shares a crucial kiss with Bella; in the battle with the newborns, he is badly wounded; and after Jake learns of Bella's plans to take her relationship with the vampire to the next level, he is arguably wounded even more thoroughly. Suffice it to say, Taycob will not be having a good time when we see him onscreen in June.

The Graduation
An extremely pivotal scene for Bella, who is beginning her "transformation." The moment is very important in the "Twilight Saga" universe, and all eyes are eager to glimpse it. When, oh when, will we see Bella in that cap and gown?

The Tent Scene
Bella and Edward are hiding out in the forest, and the weather becomes unbearable for Bella's human body to withstand — so guess who's there to warm her up? Jacob! This is the scene everyone is talking about. In fact, even Taylor Lautner himself has said he couldn't wait for this steamy sleeping-bag take.

Full Eclipse Trailer to be released tomorrow, 3/11

According to CinemaBlend.com a 90 second full Eclipse trailer will be released tomorrow -

We’ve just learned it’s being released on Thursday, March 11th at 6:00AM PST / 9:00AM EST. The Eclipse trailer will really be more of a teaser. It’ll clock in at only 90 seconds long and, as for what it will contain, werewolves, vampires, and Bella looking at one of those two possibilities longingly is a sure bet.

But with the Twilight Flu being what it is, odds are you won’t want to wait till Thursday, so there will also be a teaser for the teaser released on Wednesday, March 10th. That’ll only be a 10 second long version of the 90 second teaser, long enough for Tyler Lautner to flex his muscles or something. That shows up in the morning at around 9AM PST.

And here's the 10-second trailer:

What Does Robert Think of 'Breaking Dawn' Times Two?

From EOnline:

Do you really want to see more Robert Pattinson? Are you sure?!

We kid, but something tells us the prospect of more Pattz may be a big part of your mass desire for Breaking Dawn to be a two-parter. While the fourth and final installment of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series has plenty going on—weddings, babies and, of course, a final showdown or two—the official decision to break it down into a pair of movies has yet to be made.

Kristen Stewart told us earlier this month that she's with you! She thinks the book "absolutely warrants" a double-feature and "it would be hard to cram all of it into one movie."

But what does the world's hottest sparkle vamp think?

Unlike other things, Pattz isn't allergic to the idea. In his true, laid-back fashion, he's just going with the flow.

"I don't mind either way," he admits to E! News during the Remember Me press junket in New York City on Saturday.

Two movies would mean extended action sequences (yeah, that kind of action) with K.Stew, so we have to imagine he really wouldn't mind.
