What?

If this is true, this is stupid. Medics, seriously people????

The Times of India is reporting:

Medics are on standby during the filming of 'Twilight' movies to help revive the hyperventilating fans of actors Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart (AP Photo) More Pics
and Kristen Stewart.

The trio, who became an overnight sensation since the success of the vampire romance saga, whip teenagers into a frenzy everytime they appear on set, Contactmusic reported.

And Lautner, who plays werewolf Jacob Black in the series, admits that the fans are so overcome at the sight of their idols that they fail to control their emotions.

"We've met many different fans: the criers, who come around quite often; the hyperventilators, who stop breathing and have to have a medic come. We've definitely seen some passion," Lautner said.

NM Love Triangle: "It Killed Me" says Stewart

**New Moon Spoilers ~ if by some of-the-wall reason you haven't read New Moon yet**

Any love triangle is a lot of drama. But a "Twilight" love triangle is a matter of life and death, as its leading lady and the apex of said three-sided geometric shape, Kristen Stewart, tells MTV in an exclusive interview.

KStew reveals that there were several near-death moments for both her and her character, Bella Swan, during the shooting of "New Moon" - and not the kind that involved doing her own stunts.

"Like, she literally is going to die; she's going to stop eating and be done," Stewart told MTV of Bella after vampire Edward Cullen (played by Robert Pattinson) abandons her. "And the only thing that brings her out of it is this lightness [Jacob] brings."

Jacob Black would be the werewolf character who makes up the triangle's third point, played by Taylor Lautner of the no-shirt and ripped abdominal region, as those who've seen the most recent trailer will recall.

Jacob pulls Bella out of her desperate mood, and how does she repay him? By telling him she still loves that bloodsucker Edward, in a scene that Stewart says was the most challenging for her emotionally of the whole series.

She told MTV, "But probably, my favorite line in the book is when I have to say to [Jacob], 'It's him; it's always been him!' Like, I have to say that. Yeah, it killed me, it killed me."

Moments like that - and the love triangle conceit generally - that made "New Moon" the scariest movie for Stewart to film.

"I think it's the one book in the series that I was intimidated by — in a good way," Stewart said. "That's the best feeling to start a movie with."

Something many Twi-hards may not stop to consider is the challenge the books' over-the-top emotions pose for the actors.

"Just like everything in our movie, it's such a heightened version of reality. It's like, people don't just break up [in the "Twilight" films] — they break up and it literally kills you," she adds. "It's not like you just say, 'Oh, I'm really depressed and crying.' Everything is supposed to be a fantasy version of that. So I always had a really hard time figuring out, 'Am I doing enough? Do I look like I'm going to die?' "

So will Stewart's portrayal of tragic teen love be too much, or not enough?

Contest Winner Shoots Scene for Eclipse – Sabrina Frank as Vera

A lucky Twilight fan from Germany, Sabrina Frank, won a contest to land a role in Eclipse. Lainey Gossip reports that she’ll be playing Vera–

"Sabrina won a contest and the prize was that they created a character for her to play in the movie. She told exclusively that her character’s name is Vera and Vera is somehow involved with Jack Huston’s “Royce King” and Nikki Reed’s “Rosalie”. Before leaving they all shot together in the park a scene that takes place in Rochester in 1933 in which Royce leers at Vera while an oblivious Rosalie is next to him. Later on, Rosalie (still human) is seen alone with Vera who has a baby."

I wish I was Sabrina Frank....or Kristen Stewart actually. :)

Wuthering Heights a Bestseller Again Due to Eclipse

Awhile back we reported that the covers of the Emily Bronte novel were being redone to give them a more modern feel. Additionally references to Eclipse were on the cover, pointing out that the novel was one read by Bella.

Stephenie Meyer has made no secret of the fact that she was a voracious reader. She used to go through a book a week. When asked on The Host Tour what were some of the negatives she was experiencing with her new-found fame, part of her answer was that she no longer had the time to read the way that used to.

Stephenie has featured classic literature and plays in each of her novels by either referencing them directly in the storyline by having Bella and Edward reading them for a class assignment, or by talking about them in book tours, such as Pride and Prejudice, having influenced character interaction.

Well according to the UK paper, The Telegraph, Wuthering Heights, largely due to a Twilight Saga influence, has now topped the classic bestseller chart for the first time since records were kept.
“It [Wuthering Heights] has sold more than 10,000 copies in Waterstone’s booksellers stores since May, more than twice as many as the traditional Penguin Classics edition (see cover comparison to the left).

A spokesman for the chain said it was the first time Wuthering Heights had topped its classic books chart since it started compiling such figures in 1998. It has been number one in the classics chart for four months.

Simon Robertson, the company’s classics buyer, said: “I don’t think a vampire’s recommendation has ever sent a book to number one before.”

Here are the books referenced by Stephenie Meyer:

-Twilight: Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

-New Moon: Romeo and Juliet

-Eclipse: Wuthering Heights

-Breaking Dawn: The Merchant of Venice and A Midsummers Night Dream

Question: Did you read any of these books because of The Twilight Saga?

New Volturi movie stills

"Prepare to be scared. In New Moon, the second installment in Stephenie Meyer's wildly popular Twilight saga, readers are first introduced to the ancient ruling class of vampires known as the Volturi. Determined to capture their creepy menace for his screen version opening Nov. 20, New Moon director Chris Weitz has given them custom-crafted blood-red eyes."They're all hand-painted, specially manufactured contacts," Weitz tells PEOPLE. "They're opaque red, almost like preying mantis eyes. You can't really see into them. There's something terribly off-putting about it."British actor Michael Sheen (The Queen) plays Aro, leader of the Italian blood-sucking clan. Although Aro and his brothers Marcus (Christopher Heyerdahl) and Caius (Jamie Campbell Bower) have been "alive" for thousands of years, Weitz says he "deliberately" gave them a younger look in the film – for which he credits author Meyer."Stephenie was very keen to steer away from a kind of wizard-y look for the vampires," says Weitz. "They do look quite young, but they convey a formality and self-possession, which comes from age."Perhaps most lethal of all the Volturi is Jane (Dakota Fanning), an angelic-looking vampire who inflicts physical torture on her victims. "She is very strange and very spooky in this movie," says Weitz. "I think [Dakota] wanted to play an evil character for once." Source: Twifans

This makes me even more excited for the movie. November can't come soon enough! Bring it on Volturi!

Shout-out to Melo!

We'd like to give a special shout-out to Melo for designing our AWESOME new header! (She designed our old one as well). Melo is one of our followers from Germany and has has done an outstanding job with this header. Thanks so much Melo, you rock!

And if you love our new header as much as we do, please leave a comment below to help us thank Melo for doing such a great job!!

MTV's interview with Weitz on Robert's Screen Time & Cliff Diving Scene

It is insane to believe, but with all the hype around the return of Stephenie Meyer's vamps this fall, the big screen adaptation of "New Moon," is aiming to be even huger than its predecessor "Twilight." MTV got a chance to sit down with new-to-the-series director Chris Weitz and ask him some questions about the new film.

Most important to the sequel is the incorporation of hottie Robert Pattinson, who has become a sex symbol for "Twilight" fans and integral to the obsession behind the series. In the novel, Rob's Edward is MIA until the end of the story, but Chris said finding the balance between too much Rob just for profits and too little Rob which would spark fan anger was one of the more difficult aspects of the adaptation.

"[We wanted to avoid] just randomly inserting Rob throughout the movie in a back-at-the-ranch sort of way," Chris said. "What we basically did was to take the aural hallucinations that Bella has of Edward and turn them into visual hallucinations ... You'll see quite a lot of Rob in the film, but it's seen subjectively, through Bella's eyes. It's also in dreams that she has of him as well. It strikes this very fine balance between too much Rob and too little Rob."

Heck, is there such a thing as too much of a good thing? Chris doesn't really think so, but he adds that he has the prescription for any fans' heartaches. "I know for a lot of people there's no such thing as too much Rob," the filmmaker explained. "But we've got a nice dose of Taylor [Lautner] to sweeten any Rob deficiencies. It is a disease that can only be treated with Vitamin T, for Taylor."

The idea of "New Moon" being from Bella's perspective was something Chris used to his advantage. Not only did it make it easy for him to incorporate Edward without him being in the story, but it also gave him creative liberties with scenes that were not within the actual text of the novel.

"When Alice has a vision of Edward about to commit suicide, we see her vision [in the film]. To me, that's fair because, in the book, Alice conveys that immediately to Bella, and you can see Bella imagining what Alice is saying," added Chris. "At points where a reader of the book might logically imagine a scenario, it was OK for the filmmakers — me — to imagine seeing something that would be outside of Bella's knowledge at that point. Or something that's within the scope of her imagination."

Speaking of imagination, Chris has also finally revealed a little bit about what it took to create the pivotal cliff-diving scene in which Bella dares defy Edward's "be safe" wishes. "It's a hybrid," the director says of the CGI needed to make everything look as realistic as possible. "We needed to create just the right kind of stormy weather, so there's a lot of CG water and waves, which we combined with pool work that we did with Kristen. Eventually, it looks like a scene with a real location, but in order to get the kind of pinpoint control that you want to accurately represent what's in the book, you need to employ the very best that you can in terms of CGI. People should never notice when that's happening — except when I just gave it away [Laughs.]."

Boo Boo makes a boo boo

Actor Boo Boo Stewart, who will play new wolf-pack member Seth Clearwater in "Eclipse," may have spoken out of turn last week, when he said that there were plans for five "Twilight" flicks.

"I heard there's going to be three more movies," Stewart told "Access Hollywood," which reported that Stewart has contract options for any films after "Eclipse." " 'Eclipse,' 'Breaking Dawn' and there should be one more."

But Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the "Twilight" movies, released a statement to "Access Hollywood" over the weekend saying that Stewart was mistaken. "We appreciate our young actor's enthusiasm for the franchise and his role, but his comments about the number of films were unfortunately uninformed and not accurate," the statement said. "However, the fans should rest assured that we're working with Stephenie Meyer to bring 'Breaking Dawn' to the big screen."

Many presumed that Stewart's comments meant that the fourth book in the franchise, "Breaking Dawn," would be split in half, for a total of five installments. Summit said that nothing is set yet about any future "Twilight" movies beyond "Eclipse," but that the studio is currently in the process of making decisions.

TMZ Reports

I looked into a comment that was made on a previous post by an anonymous commenter. It turns out there is some truth to it, so I took the liberty of posting the actual article. On August 4, 2009, this was published on TMZ.com.
"Turns out Stephenie Meyer, the woman behind the Twilight series, isn't the only person to write about sexy vampires -- 'cause she's being accused of ripping off the storyline for her fourth ultra-successful book by a less famous, less rich author.A woman named Jordan Scott fired off a cease and desist letter to the publisher of "Breaking Dawn" -- the fourth book in the series -- claiming the Twilight tale contains a "striking and substantial similarity" to Scott's book, "The Nocturne." In her extremely detailed letter, Scott claims her book was published in 2006 -- two years before "Breaking Dawn" -- and it's no coincidence that many of the scenes are almost identical. Such as... -- Both books contain a post-wedding sex scene-- Both books contain a scene about a woman who's sick because she's carrying a child with "evil powers"-- Both books contain a scene with the death of the main character's wifeAnd according to Scott, the dialogue in all of these scenes -- and more -- is extremely similar. But Meyer's rep is calling BS -- telling TMZ, "The claim that 'Breaking Dawn' by Stephenie Meyer somehow infringes on an alleged book by someone named Jordan Scott is completely without merit. Neither Stephenie Meyer nor her representatives had any knowledge of this writer or her supposed book prior to this claim.""

TMZ continues to report. On August 19, 2009, an actual lawsuit was filed:
"The author of the "Twilight" series is being sued by a woman who claims the 4th installment is a rip-off of her work. Jordan Scott claims in her lawsuit, filed today in federal court, that she began writing a novel "in the vampire genre" when she was just 15 -- back in 2003. The novel was published in 2006 and called "The Nocturne."Scott claims the 4th installment of Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series lifted her work. She says Meyer's book -- "Breaking Dawn" is a "significant literary departure from [her] early books..." She says it seems the book is "written by a teenager." Yes, Scott was a teenager when she wrote "The Nocturne."Scott claims the two books "show striking, articulable and substantial similarities in the ... plot lines, themes, dialogue, mood, setting, pace, characters, sequence of events, ideas and other similarities." TMZ published a story about the specific plot similarities... Scott is asking for damages, and that the court impound the "Breaking Dawn" books that are being sold."

So what do you think? Does anyone think this is a rip-off? And how easy would this be to prove? Do you know how many stories I've read with similar story lines!?! And there have been SO many vampire books that are EXACTLY like Twilight; stories that have been published after Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series came out. I guess what I'm trying to say is, though the story line is similar, this doesn't mean that Stephenie took the idea from anyone. I think anyone can have an idea and it be similar to someone else's but it doesn't mean the idea was stolen, by any means. I think this is silly! I would love to hear everyone's opinions on this. By the way, I am only one of several contributors to OTC, and my opinions do not necessarily reflect the opinions of other contributors.

Breaking Dawn Headed for the Big Screen?

Summit has yet to confirm the greenlight for Breaking Dawn, but I think we're all pretty confident it will happen. How could it not?!? You can't just stop at number three! C'mon now. Marc Malkin gives us the scoop (And Marc Malkin knows his stuff):

"Breaking Dawn will be made into a movie! While there's been no official announcement that all systems are go for a fourth Twilight flick, a rep for Summit Entertainment promises that Eclipse will not be the last we see of Robert Pattinson & company...'The fans should rest assured the we're working with Stephenie Meyer to bring Breaking Dawn to the big screen,' the rep said. 'As in all creative processes, things take time. We want to make sure we get it right.'And as Twilight fans know, that probably means softening the more hard-core aspects of Breaking Dawn."

Via Twilight Treasury

I'm guessing if they didn't "soften" certain aspects of Breaking Dawn, it could turn into a horror film (lol). I'm curious to how the birth scene will play out. This is so exciting!

Catherine's Bachelors 1, 2, 3 & 4

From Celebuzz.com:

It's hard to imagine Edward Cullen of Twilight as anyone but Robert Pattinson.

But, as director Catherine Hardwicke revealed at the Twilight Lexicon in Phoenix, AZ, he was up against three other extremely attractive men for the role!

Hardwicke spilled "that the 4 finalists (who she called bachelor 1, 2, 3, 4) for the part of Edward Cullen were [Robert Pattinson,] Jackson Rathbone, Ben Barnes, and Shiloh Fernandez. She said to watch for Shiloh because she predicts that he’s going places."

As we all know, Jackson did make it into the flick and as a member of the Cullen clan.

Good choice, Catherine!! How could this face NOT be Edward!!!

Official New Moon Trailer #2

For those of you who haven't yet seen the trailer, or for those who want to see it again, here it is. It's definitely worth watching a few times. ;)

Jodelle Talks of New Moon and her "Mystery" Role

So we already know that Jodelle has a part in New Moon, but we finally get to hear what she has to say about her role. So far, no names allowed, but I think we all have an idea of who she will be playing. I mean, there are only so many newborn vampires...
"In a new interview with E! Online, Jodelle Ferland, who recently signed on to star in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, talks about her role in the film, how she is Team Edward and why she thinks many other fans are too, and which cast member she is most looking forward to meeting, among other things.
'I'm allowed to tell people that I play a vampire who has just been turned,' the 14-year-old Canadian actress tells me. 'In other words, I'm a newborn vampire. I'm not allowed to say the name of the character.' So if she won't say whether her character is Team Edward or Team Jacob, what's her pick in real life? It's Team Edward all the way for Jodelle. 'I just think if maybe Jacob had been introduced first then everybody would like him better,' she said. 'It just seems that since Edward was the first one to be with Bella, people want him to stay with her. So, you know, that's the character that you start to like first! And then Jacob comes into the picture and everybody's like, 'Oh, no! Stay with Edward.'' Jodelle says she's 'really, really excited to meet Robert Pattinson.' As are her friends. 'Every single person I've told has asked me if they could come to the set, she said, adding with a laugh, 'I've said, 'I'll have to think about that.'' How did Jodelle celebrate snagging a part in what's destined to be one of the most successful movie franchises ever? 'You know, I was just thinking about that yesterday, she said. 'I was just thinking that I haven't done anything yet. I need to think of something. Basically, I just jumped up and down and then I went into my room and watched a movie on my mini-DVD player. 'Actually, it wasn't a movie,' she continued. 'I was watching The Addams Family—the old ones, not the movie.'"

I know what you did this summer, Stephenie Meyer.

Stephenie Meyer has updated her website to say how she spent her summer vacation. She has a list of some great book and song recommendations and ended with this quote-
“And finally movies. Mostly when I get out to a movie, it’s a kid’s movie. So Pixar’s Up was the highlight of my summer. And then this Saturday I went to see an actual grown-up people movie, yay! Admittedly, I went to see the New Moon trailer on the big screen (yes, I’m a total dork. Who cares? It was worth it). But then I stayed to see Bandslam because the reviews were so good, and I was glad I did. With my hopeless love of music coupled with my total lack of musical ability, I really dug Will. He’s my hero right now. It had a good soundtrack, as one might expect, a lot of very quotable one-liners, and it turned upside down some of those lame female-interaction stereotypes. It’s a good time.
So that’s my “How I Spent My Summer.” I hope you guys had a really good time this summer, and found some great stuff of your own. I love this world full of stories and songs waiting to be discovered! And I also love you, the awesome Twilight (and maybe a few Hosts, too) fandom. I stalk your websites all the time—you guys are hilarious (I recently added LTT to my stalk list; thanks for the laugh lines, ladies). I’m looking forward to seeing some of you in November for a little movie release that I’m excited about. Too many months to go!”

I want OTC to be on her stalk list. We can only hope, lol. So how many of our readers went and saw Bandslam over the weekend (or watched the leaked trailer online)? Was the trailer everything you hoped it would be? I thought it was fabulous!
And is anyone else just dying to know if and when Stephenie Meyer will finish Midnight Sun? Or write another addition to the Twilight Saga?

Flashback Volturi Scene in 'New Moon'

From AceShowBiz.com:

Jamie Campbell Bower's remark that "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" will see three Volturi members naked in a bathhouse when Carlisle Cullen visits them has been slammed, but there is partial truth in his words. In an interview with MTV during Twilight fan convention, TwiCon 2009, Carlisle's depicter Peter Facinelli revealed that the scene wherein Carlisle meets the Volturi was shot.

"We did film a flashback scene, but we're fully clothed in our garb from that era," the 35-year-old revealed when asked whether the movie will include the particular scene. "It's pretty cool. I think people are going to dig that. I like doing the flashback scenes, because you get to dress up in different time periods. It's set in a time, I think the 1800s, where I have traveled to Italy and I was living with the Volturi."

Explaining more on the scene, the husband of actress Jennie Garth shared, "Edward is basically telling Bella the story of who the Volturi are, and then it flashes to scenes of me and the Volturi ... in the Roman bath. [Laughs.] No, we're not in the Roman bath. We're playing cards." When pressed on the playing cards remark, he said, "It's a secret, because it's not in the book. We can't give away all the secrets - you'll have to go and see the movie."

Kristen & Taylor: New Moon is "Gonna Be Even Better" Than Twilight

Kristen Stewart is on yet another magazine cover, but this time, it's costar Taylor Lautner, not Robert Pattinson, beside her.

The "Twilight" twosome graces the cover of this week's Entertainment Weekly, on newsstands today, in anticipation of the November release of the second "Twilight" flick, "New Moon."

Unlike the first film, the storyline in "New Moon," revolves around the budding relationship between Bella Swan and her friend Jacob Black after Edward Cullen leaves Bella behind.

It's only fitting, then, that Lautner get his time in the spotlight, too. After all, he may play a teen wolf, but he's grown up a lot since "Twilight.".

"People have seen his body and all that stuff and it's a shocker because it's hard to believe that anyone can be quite so carved," "Moon" director Chris Weitz said.

Lautner gained 32 pounds for the role, diligently working out to physically fill the part that some were doubtful he could undertake.

"I knew what I was working for, so to get to the gym and work really hard was easy for me. My body fat got so low that we actually needed to increase it a little bit to be able to build muscle on top of that," the 16-year-old actor said. "The hardest part was always shoving food down your mouth. I had to be eating every two hours."

Still, Weitz insists that Lautner's sleek physique isn't half as impressive as his acting chops.

"[He] actually delivers a really great performance," Weitz said. "He wasn't just exercising all day, he was also reading the book quite a lot."

As Lautner reviewed Stephanie Meyer's work, he tells the mag he came to some serious conclusions about his character.

"Edward and Bella's relationship is so intense, but Jacob and Bella's is very laid-back. Sometimes there's a question of, is it going to go past best friends? And sometimes it looks like it," he said.

So how did he get into character?

By fulfilling every guy's dream and spending as much time with the beautiful Kristen Stewart as possible. Poor guy.

"It wasn't like we went out to, like, theme parks together or anything," said Lautner. "It was just, like, going to each other's houses, hanging out, going and getting some dinner. A lot of nothing – just spending time together."

And according to Stewart, it paid off.

"It's lamely cute. I love that kid," she said. "I would do anything for him. I would kill for him, literally."

The 19-year-old starlet had to do her fair share of character development for the new film as well, particularly the scene when Edward says goodbye to Bella, leaving her devastated and alone in the woods.

"Before the scene, I was sitting in my car, like..... crying – crying so hard you can't breathe," she said. "Because I was really overwhelmed and intimidated by the scene."

Despite her initial fear, however, Stewart believes "New Moon," has even bigger potential than "Twilight."

"[Making ‘Twilight"] was much more of a fight," she said. "Everyone was a little more scared. We needed to make something commercial but stay true to the book. We didn't have enough money. It was all very impulsive, and that's what I love about that.... movie…But I think ‘New Moon' is gonna be even better.

Eclipse Has Its Maria!

Thanks to Risky Business Blog!

The blog has recently informed us that Catalina will be taking the role of Jasper's former "boss" and creator in Eclipse.
**"Eclipse" has finally found its Maria and she is full of grace. Producers on Summit's third "Twilight" motion picture have cast Catalina Sandino Moreno, best-known for playing the title character in the indie drama "Maria Full of Grace," to play the vampire character of Maria. The CAA-repped actress will take on the role of a woman who tries to create a newborn army of vampires, recruiting the Confederate soldier Jasper to her cause. In Stephenie Meyer's book, the character is described as a petite brunette with a soft voice. The Colombian-born Sandino Moreno most notably starred in "Grace," in which she played a pregnant teacher who becomes a drug mule, as well as Steven Soderbergh's epic "Che" and the upcoming indie drama "Frail," in which she plays the title character, who's described as a naive Midwestern girl.**

I think this is my favorite part of movies, knowing who will play what roles. Exciting, isn't it?!? I can't wait to hear who is next!

Nordstrom's New Moon Collection

A preview of Nordstrom's new The Twilight Saga: New Moon Collection was released late last week to, like everything surrounding the Twilight empire, much fanfare and buzz. The vampire-themed clothes and accessories, which will be available starting October 1st, include everything from t-shirts and mini dresses to jewelry, keychains, and coats. As you'd imagine with a sartorial gimmick like this, many of the designs are kind of cheesy, but there are a few pieces that are actually great, whether you're a Twi-hard or not. To honor this new fashion collaboration, we rounded up the best and worst Twilight-derived merchandise we could find. Some of it is surprisingly stylish and cool, while other items have the clammy stench of stalkerdom we recognize from our own tween days following Anthony Michael Hall.
