Twilight in Canada
Twilight Sinks Its Teeth Into Blockbuster Debut
That huge premiere number represents achievements on many levels for Twilight. It's the top debut ever for a film directed by one woman (Mimi Leder's Deep Impact banked $41.2 mil on its initial weekend 10 years ago). It's the 29th best first-weekend bow of all time (falling just shy of 300's $70.9 mil and coming in just ahead of Transformers' $70.5 mil). It's by far the biggest opening yet for fledgling studio Summit, whose previous best bow was Never Back Down's $8.6 mil back in March. It stands as the fourth biggest premiere of the year -- better than Quantum of Solace's $67.5 mil opening, better than WALL-E's $63.1 mil, better than Hancock's $62.6 mil, to name a few. Last, but almost certainly not least, it's nearly exactly what I predicted (hooray, me!).
So it's no surprise that the studio already announced a sequel, New Moon. But the question for now, of course, is where Twilight, which averaged a bloody good $20,636 in 3,419 theaters, goes from here? Not surprisingly, girls and women comprised a whopping 75 percent of the film's audience, but will they continue to pack theaters as the weeks go on? In the short term: yes. According to studio data, ticket buyers gave the movie a nice A- grade, signaling the spread of positive word of mouth as we head into Thanksgiving. Certainly, there will be some competition for this core crowd from Australia and Four Christmases next week, but you can also assume that Twilight will be able to build on its super-smashing start."

Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart Say Thanks!
It says:
"To all of our wonderful, loyal and fantastic fans -
Thank you from the entire cast & crew for your amazing support of Twilight. You’ve blown away all of our expectations, and we feel so honored to have made a film that means as much to you as it does to us.
Without your passion, interaction and support, this film would not be where it is today -- the #1 movie in America!
From every city, every stop, every interview we have done, you've made this an unbelievable, nearly surreal experience…and so cool that we were all in this together.
We just heard from Summit that we’ll be moving forward on New Moon. We look forward to sharing this next chapter with you!
Kristen & Rob"

New Moon is now Officially a Go!!
'Twilight' Sequel Confirmed: 'New Moon' To Hit The Big Screen
First-day sales help green-light second book in Stephenie Meyer's hit series.
By Larry Carroll
It's been talked about, it has a screenwriter, and now it's official: Stephenie Meyer's "New Moon" will be coming to a theater near you. Summit Entertainment made the official announcement on Saturday (November 22), during a brief respite from counting the massive box-office receipts that Meyer's first film, "Twilight," is taking in this weekend.
"I don't think any other author has had a more positive experience with the makers of her movie adaptation than I have had with Summit Entertainment," the best-selling author said in a statement. "I'm thrilled to have the chance to work with them again on 'New Moon.' "
The news comes on the heels of the vampire flick selling out theaters nationwide, despite its mixed reviews. The madness began with some impressive advance ticket sales, then the film added to its $7 million midnight-screening take with a staggering $35.7 million on Friday, taking in money at a rate reported to be more than three times that of last week's box-office winner, "Quantum of Solace." To put it in perspective, "Twilight" is now second only to "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" in terms of biggest opening-day gross for a non-summer release.
"Twilight" is currently on track to become the highest-grossing film ever made by a female director, the highest-grossing vampire film of all time, and is also threatening several other records heading into Saturday. The film is currently projected to make more than $60 million this weekend, which would put it on track for the $150 million box-office haul that director Catherine Hardwicke has said would automatically green-light sequels.
Hence, the announcement of Robert Pattinson's favorite book being turned into a movie - news that will surely send Taylor Lautner to the gym immediately. Keep your eyes on MTV, Twilighters, as we'll have more news about the box-office take and "New Moon" in the next few days.

Robert Pattinson's Dating Status
© Albert L. Ortega/PR Photos
Being hounded by many female fans wherever he goes due to the fact that he is the main cast in the hit movie "Twilight", Robert Pattinson however confesses he is still single. Asked by Ellen DeGeneres during a taping for her talk show, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", if he's single, he says "yeah." Robert goes on telling Ellen that he might be staying single "permanently" as no one wants to date him. "No one else seems to get into a relationship with me. It's really strange," he admits. "People like screaming at me. Actually, they like screaming at me in relationships as well. No one wants to commit." Robert Pattinson's interview with Ellen DeGeneres will be aired this Friday, November 21, the same day his much-awaited big screen flick "Twilight" hits the theaters in the U.S. Meanwhile, by declaring publicly his single status, Robert thus quashes media speculation that he is dating actress Camilla Belle. Rumors on him dating Camilla were provoked by their togetherness at an after party for the Los Angeles premiere of "Twilight" Monday, November 17.

Stephenie Meyer interview with Ryan Seacrest
Twilight Soundtrack is #1
It has been confirmed today that the Twilight Soundtrack is the #1 most-selling album this week in the U.S. according to Billboard! This is a huge feat for a soundtrack BEFORE the movie has even been released, and really goes to show the passion and dedication of all you Twi-hards out there. So a huge thanks to everyone who picked up a copy, we hope you are loving it!" - Per Seth at Stepheniemeyer.com
The Seattle Times Reports:
"Twilight' soundtrack rules the charts
The soundtrack for the vampire-romance "Twilight" is capitalizing on the growing excitement for the film. More than two weeks before "Twilight"...

More than two weeks before "Twilight" hits theaters, the movie's soundtrack topped the album charts, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Released by Atlantic Records, the "Twilight" soundtrack sold 165,000 copies last week, becoming the third soundtrack of the year to go to No. 1.
The other soundtracks to top the Billboard chart this year have been "Juno" and "Mamma Mia!"
With new songs from Paramore, Linkin Park and star Robert Pattinson, the "Twilight" soundtrack ended a two-week reign by rock legends AC/DC, as the band's "Black Ice" sold 160,000 copies to fall to No. 2. Third place went to the "High School Musical 3" soundtrack, with 110,000 units moved.
Expect interest in the "Twilight" soundtrack to only build once the drama, which also features Kristen Stewart and Cam Gigandet, opens Nov. 21."
This is such exciting news!! I have my copy, do you?

Stephenie Meyer
5. STEPHENIE MEYER
In May, the best-selling author of the beloved young-adult Twilight saga published her first adult novel, The Host, which settled in on the New York Times best-seller list for 26 weeks. Before summer was out, she wrapped up the Twilight series with the polarizing finale Breaking Dawn, which has sold 2.7 million copies. After the Dawn book tour, she returned home to watch the first cut of the movie adaptation of Twilight. After her wild year, Meyer isn't dreaming of an island vacation — just time to write. Given all the love out there for her work, that'd be a win for everyone. —Karen Valby

Sneak peek
Twilight on Nightline 11/11/2008
I saw this on ABC's Nightline last night. It shows the Dallas appearance of Edward (aka Robert Pattinson) Enjoy.....
Robert Pattinson Comes to Dallas, TX
That's right, the oh-so-dreamy Edward Cullen (played by Robert Pattinson) came to the Galleria Mall this past Tuesday and graced us with his presence. Screaming teens, tweens, and adults came from all over to catch a glimpse of this beloved vampire. I wasn't planning on attending this event, but after careful consideration, how could I not go? This was a chance of a lifetime- to see the famous Edward Cullen in person, and I am so glad I didn't let this chance go by. Thanks Cindy for pushing me to go, and thank you to Rachel and Arthur for coming along. It was an awesome experience! I think Robert Pattinson is just so dang cute; I don't know if you can tell or not in the video I created, but Rob seems to be quite shy. Just notice how he runs his hands through his hair often and looks at the ground. He doesn't seem to know what to do with himself. Even toward the end of his appearance he seems to trip on something, maybe his feet, lol. Cindy and I think that his humble attitude is what makes him even more attractive- he's hot but humble. What more could you ask for?!? Unfortunately for us and everyone else who was there for Rob last night, couldn't hear Robert speaking. I didn't understand a single word he said, which was a little disappointing. You would think they would have had their sound working. :(
This is the view we had looking down from the third floor in the Galleria. The lines of people circled all around the skating rink. If you look closely enough, you can see the stage. ;)
This is the stage where he had made his appearance. I had to take a picture of this, too.
And last, but certainly not least, I had to also get a picture with me touching the very stage that Robert Pattinson stood on. hee hee

Kristen's Interview with EW
After being cast, Stewart performed a pivotal love scene on Hardwicke's bed with the four leading contenders for the role of Edward, including Robert Pattinson. ''Catherine liked a couple of the guys, and I was like, 'Are you joking? I can't do the movie unless Rob does it,''' Stewart says. ''He got it, and we could, like, see each other.'' As Hardwicke puts it, ''She would have strangled me if I didn't pick him.''

Robert Pattinson's New EW Cover
Nov 6, 2008, 04:16 PM by Amy Wilkinson
Attention Twilighters! Are you sitting down? I suggest you do so before the fainting ensues. It's finally here: Feast your eyes on this week's cover featuring Twilight's leading man Robert Pattinson. The only letters my fingers seem able to type are S,W,O,O,N. We know our romance novel redux cover with Pattinson and co-star Kristen Stewart was a bit polarizing, so we're dying to hear what you think about this one, which is one of three versions that will be available on newsstands Friday. And if you can tear yourself away from the vamp's steely gaze long enough, read about what Stephenie Meyer thinks of the upcoming movie here. "
Here are the other covers that come out today as well:

Robert Pattinson Talks about Edward
But the role of Edward Cullen jumps leaps and bounds over the portrayal of Diggory, not only in the size of the role but also in the complexity of the character.
The general essence of Cullen's character can be a difficult one to pinpoint.
"It's his fundamental effect on people," said Pattinson. "It's constantly talked about in the book how when he walks into a room there's this kind of silence. There's such an elemental attraction and fear which he emanates all the time. It's almost impossible to think of how to actually do it and that's why I was initially reluctant to do the part."
Cullen has a certain essence about him, said Pattinson. "The good thing about his character is the kind of enigmatic mystery. No one really knows what he's thinking or doing, and that's much more fun to play than making it explicitly clear."
"The hardest thing was to be scary, because he's supposed to be scary in a lot of places during the book and when you're trying to be pretty and scary at the same time, it's quite tough."
The love between Cullen and Swan is epic and deep, and completely essential to both characters.
"I definitely tried to think about why the relationship would work in reality," said Pattinson. "It's a guy who has nothing going for him. He's denying his basic instincts and he's living in this kind of purgatory where he just wants to be human again or die. And he meets this girl who makes him feel alive again and gives him a reason to live.
"It's very obvious where his desperate need and love for her comes from."

I just purchased my tickets and realized that the theater I originally wanted to go to was already sold out of the midnight showing, so I had to go elsewhere. If you want to see Twilight at midnight, I advise you get your tickets ASAP.
