Hardwicke NOT returning to New Moon

ET has confirmed that there will be a major change to the production of the upcoming "Twilight" sequel, "New Moon."

Summit Entertainment and "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke jointly announced to ET that Hardwicke will not be directing the next installment of the hugely popular 'Twilight' franchise.

"I am sorry that due to timing I will not have the opportunity to direct New Moon," said Hardwicke. "Directing Twilight has been one of the great experiences of my life, and I am grateful to the fans for their passionate support of the film. I wish everyone at Summit the best with the sequel - it is a great story."

"Catherine did an incredible job in helping us to launch the Twilight franchise, and we thank her for all of her efforts and we very much hope to work with her on future Summit projects," said the company's production president Erik Feig. "We as a studio have a mandate to bring the next instalment in the franchise to the big screen in a timely fashion so that fans can get more of Edward, Bella and all of the characters that Stephenie Meyer has created."

"New Moon" is tentatively set for release at the end of 2009 or early 2010.

Hmm... maybe that means the next one will be a little better. I thought Twilight was great, but there's always room for improvement!

Aw, that's too bad. I just hope this next movie is as good as the first, if not better.

I'm hoping this is going to be a good thing. I want Harry Potter quality. I think Twilight deserves it!!!! We deserve it!!!!
Twilight wasn't better good, especially after my fifth time of watching it, but it could have been much, much better.

I agree that the quality just didn't seem to be as good as say...Harry Potter. Maybe they will make it a lot better!!

Boy, my last comment really didn't make much sense, did it? I was talking on the phone and typing at the same time ~ not a good combination.

I believe I meant: Twilight wasn't bad, but could have been much, much better!
