Did anyone watch The Vampire Diaries on the CW? Do you think it's a ripoff of Twilight and it ticks you off? Did you watch it, like it and definitely want to see more? Or do you even care? What are your thoughts?

It annoys me that elana's hair is brown in the show and blonde in the book, but i havn't actually seen the show yet, it's not out in the uk :(
Um - DUH YEAH there are even scenes that are ALL Twilight in the show!
I watched it and was glad to have another vampire outlet. It's no Twilight but it's good. I'll give it a chance... there's room for more as far as I'm concerned!
Oh, and it's based on a book series that originally came out in the early 90's, before Twilight came out, so I can't say I think it's a ripoff. Are they cashing in on Twilight's popularity? Perhaps, but who could blame them.
Who else thinks Damon is hotter than Stefan? Not hotter than Jacob or Edward, of course...
I think it is a rip off... I watched it and was very disappointed...
Some scenes were twilightish but it has a good storyline, I'm gonna check out a few more episodes and see where it goes. Will it bump Twilight off my #1 spot? NO!

OK so did any of you realize that the Vampire Diaries were actually written BEFORE Twilight. It not a ripoff, it not Twilight but def not a rip off. The show may have been out after.. but its based on BOOKS.

For anyone who read the books, Damon is SUPPOSED to be hotter than Stefan, which will tempt Elena later on (his looks and total badassness). The books aren't very good but it will be entertaining TV.
i think it was a pretty good show...but its just a little weird how its sooo like twilight..
i will ALWAYS love twilight more than vampire diaries. but i have to say its pretty good! prob because it was almost identical to twilight! hehe i watched it and i think the first thing i noticed was the yellow eyes! hah! we'll see how it turns out!
The vampire diaries were written YEARS before Twilight . . . when I read Twilight I though Stephanie had to have read the vampire diaries . . . too similar!

I think its so sad that really there isn't any creativity left. They just take whatever "fad" we seem interested in at the moment and try to make as much money as they can off of that.
Personally, I think the Twilight Saga should become the Twilight Series and have its own tv show. Boy, I'd kill for that one!!!! :)
I watched - I liked it.. I never read the books.. So for me it's better because then you don't "know" - how many differences there are with
the characters in the book and on the screen... We are all just used to how closely - Summit Ent. kept Twilight to the book that we think all books made into movies or TV shows should be "JUST" like the book.. just my opinion.. I will keep watching..
I believe and honestly feel that it is ripoff of Twilight. LEAVE TWILIGHT ALONE!!!!!
I like it! Of course it reminds me of Twilight...but anything with vampires is ok with me =]
All the vampire books and shows are going to be similar....for crying out loud....it is what sells! A little thrill and a little love....perfect! I for one love all of them I have read so far equally....I love any escape from reality and these themes do that perfectly! Has anyone ever read the Sookie Stackhouse novels....the books that they based the TrueBlood series on?? Those are great too!! And a little different! The more the merrier....I definitely enjoyed The Vampire Diaries....and didn't think it was that similar to Twilight at all :)
these people were smart to make a vampire show with all the vamphype going on. i didn't watch it(i think it looks dumb) but i don't think its a rip off-just people trying to make a buck. smart people. people that know what people love. but nothing can compare to twilight!

A lot of the tweens who are so in love with Twilight werent even born when the 1st Vampire Diary book was written in 1991 so if anything it's the other way around...

I really enjoy watching the Vampire Diaries. It kinda upset me to find out that the twilight novels came out after the books the vampire diaries are based on. Cause they are very similar in some ways.

But SURE the caracters are to much, balla-and-edward-like... Anyways, it's a good show tough.

It has just aired in Australia and I loved it. Fun to have something similar to watch while waiting for New Moon. Will definitely watch again and may even buy the books.

i saw the commercials and previews and knew from the moment they both ended, it was a copy off of twilight. and not to menchion, i dont think the girl they picked for elena is really that "good". and yea it ticks me off because just because they made it before twilight, doesn't mean its not copying!!! because the way the made the movie...UGH! just like twilight!!!!!

it sucks and its boring.
it was realy boring at the begining but know that i keep wathing it it has become really interesting every thursday i csnt wait to see what happenes next. but nothing will ever be as gud as twilight. Cant wit for November 20 to come around
