Taylor Lautner’s career in film began with his martial arts instructors’ convincing words that persuaded him to audition for screen roles in various film productions. Lautner, nor his instructor, anticipated the resulting Hollywood status that portraying various characters in movies would one day bring him, the role of one of the most beloved characters of “Twilights” franchise tag.
Lautner, native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, remains humbled by his new stardom in the “Twilight” franchise stating in an interview with Teen Vogue, "I think the fans would love anybody who played Jacob. I'm just lucky to be the one who got the chance." Lucky is hardly the word to describe an actor so convicted to holding a role and portraying the role to the fans vision that Lautner worked out rigorously for months.
Taylor Lautner’s workout regime consisted of 6 days a week, 2 hours a day of exhausting physical training. The training rewarded Lautner with the opportunity to continue in the film franchise, winning back the role that he had been told he was going to lose to recasting of the part. Lautner added 30 pounds of muscle mass to his frame, embodying the Stephenie Meyer character’s size and strength.
The paparazzi have focused intently on “Twilight” cast members, a fact that has not eluded Taylor Lautner, recently focusing on his relationship with Disney Channel actress Selena Gomez. Lautner remained humbled when asked about Gomez responding, "She's a great girl,” refusing to elaborate anymore information.
The days of extreme martial arts championships may be long behind Taylor Lautner’s career, but the lessons learned during his training in regard to composure and discipline remain relevant to his life.
