Peter Meets Fans Along Tour To Help Ill Children

Team Carlisle drew thousands of antsy "Twilight" fans to the Poughkeepsie Galleria on Sunday for an autograph and photo event that benefited Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer.
Peter Facinelli, who plays Carlisle Cullen, the adoptive father of vampire character Edward Cullen in the film series, was friendly to his fans, making small talk, hugging them on stage, and even pretending to nip into their wrists during photographs (even though his character has spent hundreds of years controlling his appetite).

The actor's visit was part of his ongoing mall tour to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand, which raises money for childhood cancer research.

The Queens native and father of one occasionally waved to the crowd, giving rise to a collective squeal uniquely associated with starstruck teens and tweens.
Facinelli's vampire character is the favorite of 11-year-old Rhinebeck resident Morgan Suter, largely because of his medical skills (Cullen is a doctor) and the manner in which he became a vampire.

Morgan clutched her freshly autographed fourth installment of the Twilight Saga, "Breaking Dawn," her favorite of the series.
"I do like the vampires better than the werewolves," she gushed. "They sparkle in the sunlight, and the werewolves are hairy."

Morgan's aunt, Hyde Park resident Stephanie Licari, follows the saga as closely as her niece, mostly for the romance.

Licari had heard that "Eclipse," the third installment of the series, was Facinelli's favorite, so she brought her copy of the book.
In her pocket, she had secreted a pack of peanut M&M's to give to Facinelli. She had read an interview in which he said he liked them.

"You guys have been fantastic," Facinelli told the crowd. "I appreciate each and every one of you."
