Okay, this is just strange! Twilight Lexicon posted that PETA, yes PETA, gave Twilight "The Most Animal-Friendly Award." What??? I agree totally with Lexicon ~ did they see the same movie we did???
Here's what Lexicon had to say: "To be honest, we’re kind of boggling at the irony of this one. PETA has given the Twilight movie an award as being most friendly to animals. Do the PETA people realize that "vegetarian vampire" isn’t literal and that the Cullens drink animal blood? In the first forty or so seconds of the movie a deer is clearly killed. Did they watch the same movie we did?"
Thanks Lexicon, we're boggling over here, too!!!
Update from PETA: "Peta2 awarded Twilight with the Libby Award for “Most Animal-Friendly Movie” because the movie promoted vegetarianism. Bella eats only vegetarian foods in the movie (when she is at the diner in Forks with Charlie she orders a veggie burger, and in Port Angeles with Edward she eats mushroom ravioli). Bella also gives her Dad grief for eating steak and Stephenie Meyer is served a vegetarian platter during her cameo.
Even though “vegetarian vampires” is a misnomer, no animals were harmed in the movie. We know that no one will be killing animals to satisfy their vampiric thirst as a result of seeing Twilight, but we do hope everyone will follow Bella’s example and give vegetarianism a try!"
Okay, now that makes more sense!

Kristen Stewart Possible Presenter at Oscars
According to Fashion Week Daily, Kristen may possibly be a presenter at the 2009 Acadmey Awards.
But according the Yahoo News, the presenters are going to be top secret until showtime on February 22nd.
So be sure and tune in to the Oscars to see if she really is a presenter. My guess is she will be. Twilight was just too huge and, unfortunately, was snubbed at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards.....boo! Wake up Hollywood ~ we LOVE Twilight!!

America Young as Emily?
America Ferrera as Emily?
From Celebuzz:
"Add America Ferrera to the long list of actresses who are supposedly up for a role in the Twilight sequel New Moon.
Following in the footsteps of Vanessa Hudgens and Dakota Fanning, the 24-year-old Ugly Betty actress has reportedly auditioned for the movie. Ferrera tried out for the part of Emily Young, fiancée to Sam Uley and second cousin to Leah Clearwater.
"I got to audition for New Moon today! For the role of Emily," Crazy Days and Nights quotes the outspoken actress and snappy dresser as saying. "The casting director, you fans of the book will be glad to know, has read the books and loves them. And you can tell. His direction was spot on for the character. I loved the books. I would so love to be in the movie!!!"
Seems like a perfectly reasonable match. After all, Ferrera has had experience interacting with monstrous characters before."

Dakota Fanning in New Moon?
From the LA Times: It's true, Twilighters! A famous young actress may be getting a role in "New Moon."
No, no, not Vanessa Hudgens.
But Dakota Fanning has confirmed that she’s in talks to join the cast of "Twilight” sequel, “New Moon," as Jane the Volturi vampire.
But she didn’t spill any secrets to HitFix, saying simply, "It's definitely possible. I really hope it works out," Fanning says. "It would be a really fantastic experience I'm sure."
**This could possibly happen ~ Dakota is in the Summit film Push. What do you think?

Twilight-Inspired Sweets
Okay, so apparently just about everyone is jumping on the Twilight bandwagon. I guess I can't blame them!
From BostonHerald.com
New England Confectionery Co.’s Sweethearts Conversation Hearts are going from “I Love You” and “Marry Me” to “Bite Me.”
The Revere candy company wants to make the 143-year-old line more relevant to teens and tweens with a tie-in to the popular “Twilight” film based on the best-selling vampire romance novels.
NECCO will release softer, sparkling versions of the pastel sugar hearts in March, when the film is released on DVD. The printed messages will include “Bite Me,” “Secret” and “Soul Mate,” and flavors such as “orange obsession” and “tempting apple.” More Sweethearts will hit stores for the November release of the “New Moon” sequel.

Robert Pattinson - MTV's Top Male MVP
From MTV.com: It's Pop Week here at MTV News, and that means we're catching up with and getting to know everyone who's going to make a splash in pop music and culture over the next 12 months. Whether they're just arriving on the scene or are already the name on everyone's lips, these are the artists we expect big things from in 2009.
They make girls swoon and hearts beat faster. They're the guys that girls hang posters of on their bedroom walls. Whether they star in movies, make music or do a little bit of both, these guys aren't going anywhere in 2009. In fact, girls wouldn't know what to do with themselves if they did. Quite frankly, they are as nice to look at as they are talented in their various jobs. These are MTV News' Pop Week Male MVPs, and here's what 2009 will bring for them.
#1 - ROBERT PATTINSON: After making millions of girls want to have a vampire love affair in "Twilight," English heartthrob Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Edward Cullen in this year's "New Moon." But he also hopes to wow audiences as the young surrealist painter Salvador Dalà in the film "Little Ashes," which chronicles the early life of the brilliant artist and explores his romantic relationship with poet Federico GarcÃa Lorca, played by Javier Beltran.

Hudgens Rep Denies New Moon Audition
Maybe this is true! I know this will excite a lot of you if it is!! But of course, at this point, everything is pretty much a rumor, so who really knows???? I guess we'll all find out for sure soon enough.
Per Digital Spy:
Vanessa Hudgens has not auditioned for a role in New Moon, according to her representative.
Earlier reports suggested that the High School Musical 3 star had read for the role of werewolf Leah Clearwater in the forthcoming Twilight sequel.
However, a representative for the actress has dismissed the speculation.
"I don't know anything about the audition. As far as I know, it's just a rumour."
New Moon is expected to begin filming in Vancouver in March.

Twilight's Taylor Lautner Packs on 26 Lbs to near his Weight Goal!
OMG reports
Taylor Lautner has almost reached his goal of gaining 29 lbs. for the Twilight sequel, New Moon.
"I've been working hard for eight or nine months, and I've put on about 26 pounds of muscle," he told Usmagazine.com Saturday at the Access Hollywood "Stuff You Must" Gift Lounge in West Hollywood.
"I'm literally in the gym every single day for at least two hours a day," added the actor, 16.
"It's hard work," he told Us. "My motivation is basically my passion for the character of Jacob and the series. I want the fans to be proud of the movie, so I have to live up to Jacob."
Besides hitting the gym, "I'm trying to eat as much as possible," he said. "Basically I'm supposed to eat everything I can and try to keep it lean. Lean meats and veggies."
It was announced earlier this month that Lautner will return following weeks of questions about whether he could effectively portray his werewolf character (who grows a foot taller and looks 25 years old in the sequel). Most fans overwhelmingly wanted Lautner back.
Lautner told Us the support of Twilight has been "crazy."
"It's blown up into something we had no idea," he said, "so it's really exciting. I'm so thrilled to be a part of something like this."
New Moon begins shooting later this year.

Vanessa Hudgens Auditions for Twilight
From MTV.com: Ashley Greene, who plays Alice Cullen in the movies, thinks 'High School Musical' actress would be 'great' as Leah Clearwater.
"With all the "New Moon" casting rumors that have been floating around since "Twilight" hit theaters, we were especially wondering who would play werewolf Leah Clearwater, Jacob Black's feisty and heartbroken frienemy.
Well, one of the rumored actresses in the running — "High School Musical" starlet Vanessa Hudgens — has apparently taken the next step and auditioned for the role, according to "Twilight" actress Ashley Greene.
We ran into Alice herself at a Golden Globes afterparty, and she told us she'd be happy to co-star with Hudgens. "I think she'd be great," Greene enthused.
Just last week, we asked Twilighters on our Movies Blog what actress should play Leah, including Hudgens and "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" actress Brenda Song as two poll options. The actresses tied at 31 percent of your vote, with "neither" being the most popular choice at 38 percent.
Commenters had a lot to say about Hudgens' possible casting — both positive and negative.
"I cannot picture her being mean or aggressive as Leah," Mary_ym commented about the Disney star.
"Vanessa Hudgens would be a good choice," chill_kid_07 countered. " ... Of course she can't look like Leah — no one can. You know why? 'Cause it's just a book, and these are actors trying to portray the roles! I think she would be great."
Besides casting, Greene also had some news on the status of "New Moon."
"I hear they're doing another rewrite," the actress revealed of the in-flux script. "I'm with you guys — I'm so excited to read it."
What do you think? Also, who do you think they should cast as the Volturi?

Edward Cullen Action Figures
MTV.com reports:
"Attention, "Twilight" fans. If you've long dreamed having a "fully articulated" Edward Cullen of your very own, well, now you're in luck.
Very soon, at a Hot Topic near you, you'll be able to get your hands on the brooding "Twilight" hero, in action-figure form, at least.
The Edward Cullen figure — currently up for preorder on Hot Topic's Web site — retails for $16.99, sports "beautiful articulation with movable limbs" and is decked out in a blue button-down shirt, jeans and a gray peacoat. It's 11.5 inches tall and comes packaged with an exclusive Cullen family crest and is also apparently "imported," though we're not exactly sure from where.
According to Hot Topic, the preorder runs until January 13, and the Cullen figures will be delivered on or around January 20.
Of course, if a mere action figure won't slake your Cullen mania (and if you've got significantly more cash to burn), there's also the limited-edition Edward Cullen figure, hand-sculpted by the folks at Tonner Character Figures. Retailing for $139.99, the deluxe Cullen figure is sculpted from the likeness of "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson (before he cut off his epically coiffed hair), stands 17 inches tall, and features 14 points of articulation. He's hand-painted, dressed in a T-shirt, jeans and shoes with working laces (bonus!) and comes with "rooted saran hair" (which is totally the best). There's also a Bella Swan figure (dressed in a peasant top, jacket and corduroys), but maybe you'll just want Edward to yourself.
The Tonner figures (set to ship this spring) are apparently just the first in a series of deluxe "Twilight" figures Tonner will manufacture. They're currently available for pre-order through the manufacturer's Web."
On a side note, Borders has Edward Cullen action figures as well, if you can't wait. (We're not calling them dolls, even though he is a doll!!)

Taylor Lautner IS Jacob Black
Message form Chris Weitz:
Dear Twilight Fans,
I'm very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in NEW MOON, and that he's doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer. The characters in Stephenie's books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of TWILIGHT, the book and the movie, will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in NEW MOON; and I'm looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.
Very Best, Chris Weitz

Taylor Lautner May Get to Keep Jacob Role
"This week, Summit is expected to announce its decision for the next film based on Stephenie Meyer's wildly successful series of vampire romance novels. Kristen Stewart, 18, is set to return as Bella Swan, the beautiful human who falls for a softhearted bloodsucker. And Robert Pattinson, 22, has a lock on his job too; his turn as Edward Cullen, the hunky, soulful vampire, has made him an overnight superstar with young female moviegoers around the planet. But Lautner, 16, has a more uncertain future. That's because the character he was so perfectly cast to play in the first Twilight film — a slim, baby-faced teenager — will be greatly expanded in the sequel. And by greatly expanded, we mean into a hulking, snarling, seven-foot Lycan. ''Jacob is a totally different character in New Moon,'' says Melissa Rosenberg, screenwriter of both Twilight films. ''He's a foot taller and huge — and he's supposed to look 25. It's really a question of whether or not the same actor can play the role.'' Rosenberg is quick to add, however, that ''everyone would love to keep him. We all think he's the loveliest person ever.''
