Taylor "Feels Bad" for Jacob

From Softpedia.com:

Shooting for “New Moon” has wrapped quite a while ago, as fans must already know, with the entire cast preparing now to start work on the third film. With November still a long way to go, when the second installment comes out, Taylor Lautner is doing his best to keep fans on his toes, as shown in his latest interview with HitFix.

The interview took place back in May but, for reasons not disclosed, it’s just now that the publication is running it. It comes to perfectly accompany a photo that was just released by Summit Entertainment, showing Jacob (Taylor Lautner) and Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) having a very intense moment inside a car, where it can be easily seen both that Bella is toying with her friend and that Jacob is desperately in love with her.

Speaking of which, Taylor tells HitFix it was initially hard for him to get to understand and become the character he’s playing. Once he did, though, he felt immense pity for him. “I don’t feel bad one bit; I feel bad for myself! (Laughs.) No, when I was reading the books, I felt so bad for Jacob’s character. But now that I’m actually living him, I feel way worse. Bella’s toying with Jacob! I don’t care if she’s ripped between the two guys, I feel so bad for Jacob, because she confused him; one moment, she’ll want to kiss him, and the next moment, she’s ditching him for Edward. I mean, yeah, I understand where Bella’s coming from, and it’s a crappy situation for all of them. But I feel really bad for Jacob.” the young actor explains.

If Taylor feels bad for Jacob, he is clearly not alone. Aside from the female admirers who are dying with anticipation for “New Moon” to be released and thus see just how many times Jacob will appear shirtless, there are also those who would rather choose Jacob before Edward because of the unrequited love story. According to Taylor, it’s precisely this love triangle that the movie is trying to place plenty of emphasis on, while the increased attention has only made the cast and producers be more aware that they’re being watched and, thus, invest more in their work.

“We know what we’re making this time around. I mean, for the first film, we really had no idea we were making a big film, we just knew that we were all in love with the series and wanted to make a great movie. But we didn’t know that all the people were going to fall in love with the movie and it was going to be as big as it was. Now, we’re coming into ‘New Moon,’ you know, with a little bit more pressure, but we’re trying to push that behind us and not think about that, and stay focused on what we need to do.” Taylor says of the difference between “Twilight” and “New Moon.”

Twilight movie 'Eclipse' has its first new casting

***Spoiler Alert for those who have not read the series***
Yahoo! Buzz

By Steven Zeitchik

-Google might want to brace for a search onslaught: An unknown Australian actor named Xavier Samuel has landed the first new role in 'Eclipse,' the third 'Twilight' pic.Summit has hired the actor to play the role of a 'newborn vampire' named Riley, a good-looking college student who joins the plot of villain Victoria to murder protagonist Bella (Kristen Stewart). Riley is corrupted by Victoria, for whom he has an inexplicable weakness.
The movie's larger plot centers on a choice Bella must make between the werewolf Jacob (Taylor Lautner) and the vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson).Samuel, repped by Management 360, Gersh and Shanahan in Australia, has been in series of films down under, including 'Newcastle,' in which he played a Goth teenager amidst a group of surfers (the movie played Tribeca last year -- though you can bet Netflix will see just a small spike now), the Aussie period drama 'September' and the upcoming sci-fi thriller 'Road Train.' This marks his first U.S. role.

'Eclipse,' the third book in Stephenie Meyer's blockbuster series, is set to begin shooting next month in Vancouver and be released on June 30. David Slade ('30 Days of Night') is directing from a screenplay by Melissa Rosenberg.
The Twilight franchise will become the center of the fan universe at Comic-Con next week when the stars of the second pic -- the Chris Weitz-directed 'New Moon' -- appear, new material is unveiled and the crowd goes wild. The Samuel family is probably about to see a little frenzy itself."
So is this the Riley you imagined when you read Elipse? For me, it's pretty spot on! I think he makes a great Riley. It's too bad he's gonna die in the film, though....

New Moon on the Rise

LA Times.com:
"Reporting from Vancouver, Canada -- Robert Pattinson is having an Obi-Wan Kenobi moment. Inside a soundstage where 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' is shooting, the lanky English heartthrob stands in front of a tall, wide green screen murmuring a tender admonition, 'You promised me nothing reckless.' Motion capture cameras hurtle toward him across a length of track affixed to the stage floor, while a team of technicians studies his stance and the tilt of his head. The plan is to digitally insert Pattinson, who plays swoony good guy vampire Edward Cullen, into a scene that was filmed much earlier -- one in which he appears as a spectral vision to his costar, Kristen Stewart, cautioning her headstrong character, Bella Swan, against hanging out with some unsavory-looking biker types. For the effect to work, Pattinson's image will need to be dropped in at exactly the right position, so despite the cast and crew nearing the end of a very long early May day, perfectionism is still the standard. The team working on this sequel to last year's Catherine Hardwicke-directed 'Twilight,' which brought in an unexpected $365 million worldwide for Summit Entertainment, is moving quickly to sustain the momentum of the sexy, youth-oriented franchise."
I LOVE this movie still, don't you?!? It's so hot! ;)

Peter Promotes Reading!

Susan Yeager at EnterTeenment News has a really good article about Peter Facinelli's appearance at Charleston Town Center in West Virginia. It gives us a really good look into Peter's personality. Here's a couple of tidbits from the article.

Having just finished a RV trip with his family, he had been watching the Robin Williams movie "RV" over and over lately and enjoys reading books like "Cat and the Hat" to his younger daughters. He encouraged everyone to read as much as they good describing it as "getting to create your own movie in your head." Fans clamored to take pictures with cameras and cell phones while the actor spoke and then it was time to start meeting the fans. The actor took his place in front of a red curtain that would serve as a "Twilight" looking background.

Peter seemed to enjoy talking with everyone as much as they liked talking to him. He complimented them on their dresses, shirts and ball caps, offered one a piece of gum when he was getting one for himself and got on bended knee for younger fans so he could be on their level. While waiting for the next person in line, fans who had screamed his name from upper levels of the mall or from behind barricades would get treated to waves, hello's, smiles for the cameras and even air kisses.

Bella's Birthday Dress

From EW.com:

Q. Where can I find the dress Bella (Kristen Stewart) wears for her birthday party at the Cullens' house in New Moon? — Brianah

A. Sorry, Twilighters, but you're outta luck. New Moon costume designer Tish Monaghan custom-made Bella's one-of-a-kind dress: ''It was supposed to be a gift from Alice, so I wanted something pretty that Alice would buy, but also something vintage [looking] that would be appropriate for Bella. We dressed it down with sneakers to keep the Bella flavor.''

Harry Potter vs. Twilight?

The Wall Street Journal has an article comparing the marketing strategies and target audiences of Twilight and Harry Potter. As usual, they seem to miss the point that there are a HUGE number of adults seeing both pictures. And oh my, isn't that a hideous picture to the left?!? lol
Below is an excerpt from what WSJ had to say:

“Hollywood marketing executives say that these days the “Twilight” franchise has influenced almost every studio marketing campaign that targets teenage girls. Some posters for the upcoming “Potter” film echo “Twilight”’s emphasis on romance. One features Harry and his crush, Ginny, gazing longingly into each others’ eyes, in a pose reminiscent of “Twilight”’s now-iconic image of its star-crossed lovers, Bella and Edward. Another shows Harry’s friend Ron with his girlfriend Lavender, while a jealous Hermione scowls in the background.
Warner Bros. and the team behind “Potter” say they didn’t take the “Twilight” franchise into account when designing their marketing materials for “The Half-Blood Prince.” Instead, they crafted a campaign aimed to resonate with previous “Potter” films, the executives and filmmakers say, dismissing the notion that there is a rivalry between the franchises among fans.”

Do you actually think Potter being a copycat? And who out there could care less? I for one don't think it's a big deal, but it is awfully coincidental that they're so alike. Thoughts?

Pattinson Steams up Photo Shoot - In Stores Now!

From Jenny McCarthy at Examiner.com:

Robert Pattinson, 23, is looking awfully damp and sexy in the latest issue of US Weekly. Part of a photo shoot done with Rolling Stone a few months ago, these latest pictures are reminiscent of River Phoenix and James Dean. Sporting a jean vest, low slung jeans, and a bared chest, Pattinson fans will surely devour these latest pictures! A source on the set tells US Weekly that Pattinson was up for anything, even letting them throw a bucket of water on him to capture shots like the one on the right.

Pattinson has captured the essence of "brooding male", from playing a tortured vampire in Twilight to a young man with family issues in the upcoming Remember Me. Fans have noted that recent set pictures of Rob in New York are lacking in smiles; is he taking the brooding attitude too far? Or is the fame and hype starting to get to him?

In any case, fans seem to adore Pattinson's mopey faces just as much as his smiles. Head to the magazine stands this week to get your Pattinson photo fix!

Kiowa Gordon: Landing the Role

"Surreal is a word Gordon used to describe his experience. And no wonder; he was a virtual unknown when he landed the coveted role"...

..."'An acting coach worked with me for about an hour before the audition,' Gordon said. Ironically, 'Twilight' author Stephenie Meyer is a member of Gordon’s church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They attend the same ward; Meraz is also LDS.Within a couple of weeks word came he landed the part of Embry Call. 'My mom got an e-mail. She was ecstatic.' After speaking to the director on the phone, he was off to Los Angeles for a 'cyberscan.' It’s a technique used in many movies to create real-life animation. 'A machine went around my body to create a computer image so I could be transformed into a werewolf.''When I went to Vancouver, the first person I met was Alex Meraz. During the first three weeks I hung out with the wolf pack. We worked with a personal trainer. I gained five pounds. We all bonded and became like brothers,' Gordon said. 'I’m the smallest (physically) but I’m the tallest.' Gordon is 5 feet 11 inches tall.He describes a day of the set. 'We spend an hour in makeup (basically) getting darker and they enhanced our abs,' laughs Gordon. 'It was really cold, one degree Celsius. We wore robes before our shoots. All our scenes were outdoors. We had to get in the rain.'Gordon met all the major actors and shot a scene with Stewart. 'I’ve had long hair since the seventh grade, to my shoulders. Our hair has to be short when we become werewolves. I had no idea they were going to cut it. Oh man!'Twilight’s' worldwide massive fan base enthusiastically embraced the wolf pack. Gordon, who has a MySpace page, said before he landed the role he had 200 'friends.' Now he has 2,500 'friends.' During his down time in Vancouver, he and fellow werewolves dealt with the paparazzi who were eager to snap photos.Gordon admits fame has its drawbacks. 'People think I have money,' he said with a smile. While he landed a big role, filming lasted only two weeks although he flew back to Vancouver for a few more days for last scenes. 'People also think I can coach them with their acting; I’m the last person they should be asking.'His acting skills must be better than he thinks. He signed a contract to reprise the role in future sequels. In the meantime, he’s spending time in Germany learning to speak German. (He caught a flight to Frankfurt the day after the graduation). Gordon also hopes to go on a two-year mission for his church."

We’d love it if you could get the word out to your readers that Team Edward needs their views. Also, if anyone wants to submit his or her own video, they have a chance to win in the future (we pick one Video Star each week).

Kellan & Ashley in 'Warrior'

From Twilight Lexicon:

Photography from the upcoming Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene movie Warrior is now online. Be warned there are a lot of shots and it’s a little spoilery so look at your own risk. The Photographer is Patti Arpaia and her gallery can be found here.

This is the plot synopsis according to the IMBD:

“In shock and denial over his Marine father’s death in battle, star Lacrosse player Conor Sullivan, always a maverick and a hothead, starts acting out in self-destructive ways that have his mom, Claire, at her wit’s end. But arduous training in a wilderness Lacrosse camp under the tutelage of his dad’s old combat buddy, Sgt. Major Duke Wayne, opens Conor’s eyes to the true meaning of maturity, sportsmanship and manhood..”

Robert & Kristen to Appear at Comic-Con in San Diego?

EOnline is confirming, for now, that both Robert & Kristen will be appearing at Comic-Con San Diego 2009:

While we're assured Robert Pattinson didn't have the most relaxing holiday weekend—maybe because of his beefed-up work schedule, his distaste for New York or lady troubles, or all of the above—we think he'll be much more cheered up today. (More on his blah InWhySee blues soon, promise.)

Twitter is buzzing that Rob will be attending Comic-Con down in San Diego in a couple weeks, if his schedule will allow it.

So is that legit? And what New Moon gal will accompany him? Do read on:

We're assured by our knowledgeable sources that, as of now, R.Pattz is a definite go to hit the San Diego festival. And he won't be traveling alone. Kristen Stewart will be by his side, too! With Robsten's over-the-top filming schedule, not to mention the vicious rumors flying around about the couple, Kristen and Rob have had quite the past couple of weeks.

That's why we're told that both of the overworked actors are superexcited about their upcoming rendezvous. And maybe that's why Pattinson's filming dates were moved up this weekend—to give him the vacay he so needs in a few weeks with his babe back in Cali. Us romantics can only hope, right?

But don't expect security to be nearly as lax down at Comic-Con as it has been over in New York.

Monday thoughts?

I've been reading New Moon again, trying to get the storyline fresh in my mind again before the movie comes out. I have to admit it- I'm loving this book more the second time around that I did the first. Mainly, because I know how this book will end, but there are a lot of things you don't catch the first time around either. It's funny how reading something the second time around gives you new insight as to what's going on in the story. Anyhoos, I had a question. As I came across the last paragraph on p. 288, I believe I came across a typo. How has no one else noticed it? Maybe I'm reading it incorrectly? It's small really, nothing big, but has anyone else ever noticed it. The sentences read, "He grinned at me suddenly. The grin was not mine, nor Sam's, but some strange combination of the two." It's referring to Jacob's smile- shouldn't it have said, "the grin was not his, nor Sam's..."? What am I missing, I have to be reading it wrong, right?!? Feel free to pick up your books and check it out. Let me know what your opinions are on this.

Robert Well On His Way!

From Amanda Bell at Examiner.com:

It seems like ages ago since Robert Pattinson was a name unknown to the mainstream world.

Ever since the release of 2008's Twilight, he's been more than a blip on the radar; he's been practically steering the course of the radar's coverage.

Through films like How To Be and The Bad Mother's Handbook, Pattinson has been able to prove the capacity of his range - and it is wide. His pre-Twilight pictures, in retrospect, go to show that his name was absolutely destined for infamy, and that his work on Twilight was the exact break that he needed for propulsion into the center of hearts, minds, and movie screens the world over.

Back in 2008, right after the film's release, one interviewer had the foresight to discuss this phenomenon with Robert Pattinson.

Said the interviewer,

I did think that you're at this point in your career where if everything goes well, and you pick the right movies, and you've been doing very well - you won the Strasberg and you've done some other interesting films that are coming our way - that you know everything goes well, you could be Leonardo DiCaprio or you could be Johnny Depp, or if you mess up you could be Orlando Bloom, so I don't know whether you're feeling incredibly excited or there's a part of you that's slightly terrified because you know this is a moment that could change your life forever if you play it right?

Robert Pattinson's response was,

Yeah, it's terrifying. I mean, the way that the industry's changed as well. So you can't wait five years to do your next job. I mean, you literally have the heat to get films financed for about a week now, I mean it's like ridiculous, so if you don't find the right job... I mean you've really gotta like think quick in doing your next job if you want to capitalize on something as success. It's weird, it feels like it should open up options, but really, it kind of narrows them down because you have way more to lose. I mean, when you have nothing to lose, it's great. You just do anything you get, and then you can take risks, it doesn't matter. But, yeah, it's very very stressful trying to find the right thing to do if you want to have a long-ish career...

...It's nice to be on a, I guess, relatively level playing field with other people because, you know, a lot of the time you can do an audition, ... and you can do it well and people just say, you know, you're not famous enough or you're commercially viable enough to do the movie, so when you have a movie that's made $130 million or whatever, it's like ... ehhh ... kiss my ... (booty ~ edited).

His ... (booty ~ edited), to be sure, is certainly being, well, noticed - by the media, by the industry, by the fans - and no one could be happier about it. He is a story to be told, a face to behold, and a movie to be sold. He is there.

Not only does Pattinson have today (with The Twilight Saga: New Moon and Remember Me) and the promise of tomorrow (with films like Bel Ami, Unbound Captives, and, of course, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), but also many years to come.

As the interviewer predicted, the release of Twilight opened many new doors for Pattinson, doors which, without the success of the film, might have been but ajar for too long. Though, no doubt, Pattinson's skill and strength of character would have burst them open eventually (as evidenced by the fact that it did, in fact, happen), the speed at which Pattinson has gained the confidence, attention, and respect that he deserves is astounding.

Not only will Pattinson have a long career, but it will be one worth watching - for many, many films and years to come.

Why Vampires Are So Alluring: New York Times

As well as 'Twilight', there have been a spate of recent popular vampire series, such as the newly televised 'The Southern Vampire' series, 'True Blood', and LJ Smith's 'The Vampire Diaries' So, now The New York Times explores the reasons why they have become so popular -

“The vampire is the new James Dean,” said Julie Plec, the writer and executive producer of “The Vampire Diaries,” a forthcoming series on the CW network based on the popular L. J. Smith novels about high school femmes and hommes fatales. “There is something so still and sexy about these young erotic predators,” she said. This generation of undead prowls high school hallways and dimly lighted dance clubs as menacing — and as seductive — as they have ever been. The June premiere of the second season of “True Blood,” in which Sookie, played by Anna Paquin, is reunited with her imperious fanged suitor, drew 3.4 million viewers, making it HBO’s most-watched program since the “Sopranos” finale in 2007.Charlaine Harris has just published “Dead and Gone,” the ninth novel in her Sookie Stackhouse series, variations on Southern Gothic fiction on which “True Blood” is based. The publishing world has been intrigued by “The Strain,” a first installment in a planned trilogy written by the film director Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, about bloodthirsty predators run amok in Manhattan. The style world, too, has come under the vampire’s spell, in the shape of the gorgeous leather- and lace-clad night crawlers who have crept into the pages of fashion glossies.Vampires, of course, are part of a hoary tradition that harks back to Nosferatu and Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” at least. Anne Rice updated the genre, introducing the ghoulishly aristocratic vampire Lestat. But the undead are returning with a vengeance, in part because they “personify real-world anxieties,” said Michael Dylan Foster, an assistant professor in the department of folklore at Indiana University in Bloomington.“Especially during these post-9/11 times of increased vigilance, representations like the ‘Twilight’ series reflect a kind of conspiracy-theory mentality, a fear that there is something secret and dangerous going on in our own community, right under our noses.”Given all that baggage, what keeps vampires so alluring? One might point to their combination of deathless good looks and decadent sexuality. Their faces, as described in “Twilight,” “were all devastatingly, inhumanly beautiful. They were faces you never expected to see except perhaps on the airbrushed pages of a fashion magazine.”
Interesting, what do you think?

Michael Welch Discusses Robert's Role in 'New Moon'

From MTV.com:

Without a doubt, huge groups of Twilighters all over the world fantasize about Edward Cullen every day. But as popular as breakout star Robert Pattinson has become, those who've read "New Moon" know that his character Edward is absent for much of the story. Now, we've got the scoop on director Chris Weitz's dreamy solution to the problem.

"They figured out a very clever way to get Edward back in the film much more than he is in the book," revealed "Twilight" series star Michael Welch when he stopped by the MTV studios recently, acknowledging that Weitz and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg have devised a plan to work around the "New Moon" plot — which has Edward breaking up with Bella (Kristen Stewart) early in the story and fleeing to Italy. "It's more of, like, a hallucination kind of thing."

As any good Twilighter knows, Bella is heartbroken by their breakup but slowly begins dealing with her Edward-less existence through the realization that dangerous activities — motorcycle riding, cliff diving, etc. — cause her to hear the sexy vampire's voice in her head. Welch was fascinated by Stewart's pretend hallucinations on set and explained to us that Weitz intends to insert sequences of her seeing Edward as "New Moon" inches closer to its November 20 release date.

"It's tricky," he said of the filmmaker's dilemma. "I mean, [Edward] leaves for months."

"In the book, she just hears his voice," continued Welch, who plays rival Bella pursuer Mike Newton in the movies. "In the film, it's more of like a hallucination kind of thing. He will be [in the movie more than the book] for sure."

While the news of more RPattz is sure to excite some fans, others may be concerned about the tweak — and the manner in which Edward will be glimpsed in Bella's hallucinations. Will he be an Obi-Wan Kenobi-like figure, giving her advice from the great beyond? Will Edward come across more like a god, overseeing her safety from half a world away? Will the sequences play like a bad acid trip from a '60s movie, or more like Bella interacting with an imaginary friend?

"It's going to be interesting to see — I have no idea," Welch explained. "You can sort of picture it reading [the script], but I don't know how they actually went about filming that stuff."

'Twilight' Beauty - Vampy Makeup Lines

Click here to see Stylelist's article about two new lines of Twilight makeup, Luna Twilight & Volturi.

Twilight Luna: is the more luxurious of the two offerings -- the packaging is heartbreakingly gorgeous and the formulas are more sophisticated than the alternate collection.

Volturi: the other Twilight Beauty collection, will strike a chord with those who've read the book. The Volturi is the most feared and powerful coven of vampires, and that same dark, exciting sensibility can be felt in its products. The Volturi family crest appears on the packaging and some standouts include "Deity Body Lotion," "Immortal Body Shimmer" and "Crown Mascara" (shown left).
